Poor quality
I bought this whistle as a Christmas present for my husband. The whistle was unplayable, had to be returned to the manufacturer and was found by the manufacturer to be flawed. In addition the was a serious amount of metal residue in the mouth piece which leads to the conclusion that there was little or no guality control in the manufacture process. This is a relative expensive whistle and one would more attention to detail. Getting my money back is proving to be a difficult and frustrating ongoing process.

Great whistle but you need practice!
These Chieftain whistles are expensive but simply the best in terms of tone. However, you do have to practice, as with any instrument, a lot to get effortlessly fluent in the higher octave. Don't think you can just pick it up and get a wonderful sound straight away. Practice and patience pay off!

tootie fruity flutey
Well made, solid instrument, wider gauge than the run of the mill penny whistles. Fairly easy to play the first octave, not quite so easy to master the second. Perhaps with diligence I''ll get there. Sounds good to me, sort of flutey.Having paid in excess of £125 I think some sort of case would have been provided as an alternative to the whistle swimming about in my bag.

Love this whistle
Has taken a while to adapt to after playing my plastic whistle but so happy with it.

Nice airy tone and responds easyly - and I will ...
Nice airy tone and responds easyly - and I will love it even more when I find a way to play in the second register without woefully overblowing! Requires quite a lot of air compared to my trusty Dixon (which unfortunately is not as loud as the Chieftan). Oh hum. Time to worry the neighbours again.

Difficult to play
I found the lower register ok it was not the sound of a whistle that I had expected. Very difficult to play in the upper register, not what I expected. Requires at lot of hard blowing and rounding to get a good note. Maybe will sound better with practice. Disappointed so far.

High tin whistle gets high marks
In a completely different league from cheaper high whistles.Quality excellent.Whistle is numbered and sounds great.Needs a little .practice as holes are larger than usual but not a problem.I love it.Also bought a low D by same maker and is amazing sound
