Woodwise Full Trowel Filler - Red Oak - Gallon

It seemed a little pricy, but what isn't. It filled in the nail holes , deep gouges, and cracks inbetween the planks with ease. it stained real easy and turned out great

We just refinished 700 square feet of red oak flooring that had 1/4 to 1/2 inch gaps in it from 20 years of expansions and contraction. The first photo shows the gaps filled prior to sanding and staining. We did have to apply multiple coats in some areas is it did shrink when drying. We were changing the color of our floors so we were unsure what this product would look like with the stain on it. The second picture is the finished red oak floor with a coat of Puritan Pine stain and 2 coats of satin poly. We love how the filler sanded and took the stain! It was troweled on just like laying tile. Would definitely recommend!!

Worked well for 100 year old oak floor. The contents need to be packed better as the container was loose inside a larger box. It did not leak, but I'm surprised it didn't open during shipping.

Troweled it into a VERY rough oak floor before the refinisher came in. Because the entire top surface was going to be sanded off, I had to force the material down into over 2,000 nail holes and gouges with the hopes that I was getting it deep enough that it wouldn't be sanded away. The floors came out beautifully! The stain could have taken a little darker, but the filler ended up staining to almost exactly the same color as the lighter areas of wood grain, so I'm happy with that.

Pros:- It's fairly easy to apply- It has almost no odor- Sands well- Takes stain really well (as long as you let it fully dry)Cons:- It says it covers 600-1000 sq/ft. It does not. I've used it on old floors with alot of gaps and cracks and I've used it on new floors that only had slight separation. So I can safely say that it covers only about 200-400 sq/ft. So if you're applying it on 2000 sq/ft of floors in good condition, you'll probably need 6 of these.- The second tub I got was covered in mold. I don't know if this is Amazon's fault or the manufacturer's, but I've never seen anything like that before. I've used tons of different types of wood filler, pre-mixed joint compound, etc and I've never seen anything like that happen with any other products. The other 4 tubs that I purchased were in good condition though.Overall, I'd definitely use it again. It's only been a few weeks so I don't know if it will crack out yet, but so far so good.

This is the wood filler to buy if you have a large project requiring more than the small amounts of wood filler found on the shelves. Great size and good filler for large projects. The filler itself is excellent, can be lightly sanded down and painted.

I am a remodel contractor. This filler was recommended to me by my cousin, who strictly installs and finishes hardwood flooring for a living. It’s an excellent product. Spreads and fills like drywall mud. It sands right off the floor once dry, but sticks in the cracks and holes where you want it. Looks great with poly or stain. One bucket goes a long way too.
