Not sure why commenters below complain about lack of hotel lists or open hours. That's what Google maps are for!Thankfully, this guide focuses on what matters: experiences, itineraries and useful tips you won't find on google maps.

I ordered a new book, but the one I received had worn corners and scratches on the covers. I’m unsure whether these issues are due to the book being second-hand or if they occurred during delivery.

I really loved Lonely Planet books, but this one was a disappointment, as it was mostly advertising, not proper information about culture, and history, or really detailed guide to anywhere. To be honest if you are not a stay in a hotel type turist, I wouldn't recommend. Sorry for saying this, but I know they can do much better.

Worth waiting for this new version. Contains the necessary information required to travel to the Yucatan peninsula. Photos and diagrams pertain to text and are complete. Text well designed and laid out. Recommended.

As a long-time admirer and user of Lonely Planet guides, my expectations for their Yucatan edition were naturally high. Regrettably, this book represents a stark departure from the comprehensive and insightful guidance I've come to associate with the brand.Firstly, the content redundancy with the Mexico guide is striking. I preordered both, expecting unique insights in each, but was dismayed to find the Yucatan section in the Mexico book simply repackaged as a standalone guide. This lack of new or improved content not only feels like a missed opportunity but also a disservice to loyal customers who, like myself, invested in both.The new layout, presumably designed for quick reading, sacrifices the depth and richness that seasoned travelers seek. Limiting accommodation and dining options to just three each is a significant step back from the brand's legacy of providing diverse and extensive recommendations. This superficial approach fails to capture the essence and variety of the Yucatan, a region rich in culture, cuisine, and accommodation options.Furthermore, the guide's omission of crucial information about certain towns was not just surprising but inconvenient for real-time travelers. Such gaps in information can significantly impact the travel experience, especially in regions where local knowledge is key.In conclusion, this edition of the Lonely Planet Yucatan guide falls short of the mark. Its cursory content, lack of new insights, and the omission of essential information undermine the very qualities that made Lonely Planet my go-to resource. Reluctantly, I must reconsider my reliance on their future publications. The charm and reliability of their past editions seem to be fading, a sentiment echoed by many in the travel community.
