Buying bags of rice in smaller bags is so much more costly then larger bags. The container holds abit over 20 lbs of rice. There's storage under the active dispenser that can hold an additional few lbs, so overall, it may hold 23-24 lbs. The material overall has a cheap feel to it but if your not constantly moving it around than I feel it's strong enough to serve it's purpose. The "air tight" seal is abit misleading. When you put 20lbs of rice in it, the unit expands to accommodate the volume of rice. When the unit expands, the top lid doesn't and the airtight seal is compromised. It's still fine and the rice stays fresh, however it's not an airtight seal and that's the only reason for us to deduct a star. We feel that for the cost involved and the savings we will enjoy by buying larger bags of rice, that this is a intelligent purchase for us. We would purchase this again if we had the need.
