Review: Super Kinky... - I know that music is a highly subject subject, but this album is just an amazing listening experience. I can only describe the style as a kind of fusion of Latin American influences, Hip Hop and Dance music. One track 'Cornman' was used on the PS3 game Little Big Planet, so if you've ever played this game, you understand the kind of quirkyness of this music. Review: Funky Mexican - Kinky hits your hard right from the start of this album and does not let you rest until the end. They bring a sound that is truly unique to the land of the south. While most Roc en Espanol bands are attempting to sound like Robert Smith and the Cure or some other 80's alternative band, Kinky is the polar opposite. They bring a funky style that is a blend of ranchera, salsa, funk and hard rock. A sound that has yet to be heard. Although their sound is unique one can hear thier heritage and the new sound of Montery Mexico. Pick this album up if you like the sounds of the Beastie Boys, Cafe Tacuba and Molotov.

Kinky has come out of the gates with a debut album that puts them at the cutting edge of modern music. It's impossible to describe their style in a single word, as they cover so much territory with such aplomb that it defies easy description. Espanol, funk, electronica, folk, rock - they do justice to every lick, beat and rhythm they take on. Shades of Groove Armada, Ozomatli, even Rage Against The Machine, peek out here and there in these totally original, tightly performed and passionately executed songs. Not once does it sound as though they're pandering to the listener; rather, they seem to play whatever they feel best suits the songs, and they appear to have a deep, deep well from which to draw influences and inspiration. Many of the tunes are almost theatrical in their ability to sound like snippets of TV, movie or commercial backgrounds. Much like Moby did with "Play", and Talking Heads did earlier, Kinky has set a new standard for aural landscapes encapsulated in crisp, short cuts. If there's any justice in the music world (and there rarely is) these five Mexicans will find a welcome audience across all genres and from all ages. Mas!!

Great latin/electronic/rock music... I ordered this album for 'Mas' song because I first heard it on NCIS TV series (the character, Ziva was playing this song in her car, if I recall correctly). It's really up beat and fast, play it when you exercise or drive and you'll never regret it. I love it! I'm cultured in many aspects, music comes in many languages and I love Mexican and Indian tunes especially. I mostly get my music purchase ideas from TV shows/movies... I love scores and soundtracks. This album is not a score or soundtrack but very awesome. Try it kids, open your mind. I did.
