Anchor Hocking 1 Gallon Glass Barrel Jar with Lid (2 piece, brushed metal, screwable)

Excellent product to store my rice as I buy the 10 pound bag and I can fill it and store it in the food pantry nicely sealed away from anything that can get in there.

Very nice, solid, jar, great for pickling or food storage.The handle is not that hard to attach, as other mentioned - takes about 3 minutes with the help of a needle nose plier.The lid needs a bit of improvement, feels a tad flimsy but not a deal breaker.

This was perfect for my pickled eggs and beets. I just wish they had sold singles. I didn't need two jars.

I received the two amazing jars from the Amazon Warehouse...awesome place to go. As I was trying to follow directions (destructions) on putting the metal ring around the jar and getting that loop over the hook it broke. How do I get a new one? I love these jars!!

Just received these two, 1-gallon barrel jars in the mail today. One was chipped where the 'bail'-type handle assembly is supposed to wrap around the glass top, so I'm thinking that this will break in a very short amount of time. (Is it somebody's return because they tried to assemble it and ended up chipping the top, I wonder?) Also, it is a frustrating task to try to put the handle on these barrel jars. I don't know how anyone could possibly assemble these carrying handles without a pair of pliers. My fingers are red, pinched and sore from attempting to do it, and I still have not been able to put the handles on. My spouse has walked away from trying to assemble the handle onto the glass barrel -- and he's a carpenter! If it's so easy, then why don't they come all assembled with the handles in place? Junk. Junk. Junk. Should have just used the money to purchase something else that would have been more worthwhile. I do not recommend this product to anyone! (There is no rubber seal under the cap, just a heavy paper-type of liner, so it's definitely going to leak if tipped at an angle.)

These were a bit out of my budget even when I bought them in 2015, but I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. They are easy to clean, not too heavy, and they work well. My measuring cups fit in them just fine. I'm probably going to order two more for my whole wheat and bread flour because the OXO containers I'm using for those just aren't working out (at half the price).I had zero problems getting the handle on the jar, but they do come loose every once and a while, and I have to fix it. I never hold the jar by the handle alone; I always put one hand under the jar, even when carrying it. I don't deem this to be a huge issue in our household.

Extremely difficult to get the handle on. Does anyone have a video?

I was very concerned that the glass would break while installing the wire ring around the jar neck and slit my wrist. The thick glass was greatly appreciated. The jar lid needs a plastic or rubber gasket in place of the existing paper one.
