Very difficult to find specially at this price. Had been looking for them for sometime, couldn't use my mechanical pencil I got in Switzerland. Very Pleased

Like some folks, I read the listing title, saw a box of 12 and the price, and expected 12 boxes of lead. Instead, I received one box of 12 leads. I was about to reach out to Amazon and get this refunded because $10 for pencil lead is a bit much. However, I went to the Caran d'Ache website and saw that the lead was about $6 a box. I learned quickly that you have to spend $200 for free shipping, and shipping was $12. Amazon is your cheapest bet if you run out and need a box quickly. I did place a bulk order on the Caran d'Ache website, and for $12 shipping, it's probably coming from Switzerland, but now I'm not in a hurry. It's a good pencil lead and has no issues. Just be careful pulling the lid off, as you can easily break the lead.

Expensive but effective
I had problems for years with clutch slipping in a caran d'ache metwood pencil. I had been using Pentel 0.7mm leads. Had returned the pencil multiple times for clutch repairs but no one ever asked what leads I had been using. Decided to try (expensive) Caran d'Ache leads and problem solved. Their leads apparently are minutely larger - and multiple times costlier - than other manufacturers'. I would have rated them 5 stars if they weren't so expensive.
