211.5 Black Whistle

I have a 1 year old working cocker spaniel and she does not like listening to me. I wanted to be able to go In the field and let her off her lead and get her back easily. This arrived and in the evening I blew the whistle, called a recall work and gave a meaty treat. Tried a few times in the even8 g and throughout the next day, she came back every time. Too, her to the field day 3 and she was going crazy, used the whistle and she comes back every time for her meaty treat. The only time she is slower coming back is when she finds some poo perfume to roll in or eat but she does come back after a couple of huffs. I will be buying another for the wife, not sure she will come back as quickly though, boom boom.

It's needed some fairly focused training sessions but this has made the difference between me reenacting the infamous "Fenton" video on YouTube on a daily basis and having a dog who comes back and sits (3 blasts) or changes direction (one pip) without drama. Our rescue dog had quite a few challenges when he arrived and walks were a bit nerve jangling for me, but the whistle allows for a decent enough response that I now can now enjoy walks as much as him! He doesn't have a perfect recall but we're getting there. Worth the perseverance. About to buy two more, one for our dog walker and a spare as wouldnt want to be without one now. The pitch and volume makes my ears ring a bit after a long blast but a small price to pay as the hairy diggle can definitely hear it, even over quite long distances.

My 2, 12 week old Labrador pups respond to this 211.5 whistle straight away with training. Initially had used 210.5 which is softer, they didn’t respond as well to this, my spaniels did no problem. The 211.5 seems louder so recall over distance should be fine. It’s about making a consistent sound which your dogs will respond to.

Arrived very quickly which delighted me as I’d lost my other one. I would have been happier with a slightly higher pitched whistle which my dogs were used to so maybe the pitch /tone should be included in the description. However my dogs are now getting used to it.

I bought this because of the colour making it easy to spot. I was a bit concerned about how high pitched it sounded from the reviews I read but really wanted this colour. This is higher pitched than I needed or wanted it's true, but the beauty of it is that it is so smooth and constant a sound that it does not hurt my ears (important as I had tinnitus for years and that got better). The tiny tin whistle I had before was 'reedy' and shrill, not constant, whereas this is none of those things. I am delighted with it, and the dog comes running when he hears it. I taught him the sound at home so he would associate it with happiness and security. I think Acme should make the orange one in a lower pitch, but it's a great whistle.

Our dog responds well to this whistle. (Have purchased two, both have identical tone - as they should.) Dog has been trained to 'stop' and for 'recall' using two different whistle patterns. I had tried ultrasonic whistles, but not a fan. As you cant hear the whistle you cant tell if its working correctly and on the adjustable tone ones I tried the adjuster kept working loose so the tone changed. The dog did not know if it was his whistle call or not. Stick to one of these, they simply work.

These whistles come in two different pitch options. This is the one my dog responds to most. He also loves the colour as he finds is calming. Overall a good sturdy, reliable whistle.

Got this after listening to the different pitches on their website to see which my dog responded to best. After a few training sessions he is recalling with ease over much greater distances than just voice. Quality seems good, it’s been through the washing machine and still works.
