Noted This auto start powerball without digital LCD counter, please kindly noticed. How to Start it 1. Pull off the plastic insulation before use. 2. Toggle the ball along the double direction arrow to the max resistance,then release it,fast enough to have the ball turn the LED on. 3. Turn your plam facing down, and slowly start to rotate, you will feel that it is scratching against the inside of the wrist ball. 4. Keep rotating with wrist then the ball will spin faster, develop a higher pitch sound. Once you feel it spinning fast enough, stop your rotate, you could feel it oscillating right in your palm. I bought this to help with wrist pain I have struggled for years. It takes me a couple of trys to get it going, but works well.My 11 and 9 year old are using it for hand eye coordination for football and basketball. Simple but effective.

Way better than the old school design with the string
This thing is exactly as described. Way better than the old school design with the string. I don't know how well it would stand up to abuse so don't drop it on hard surfaces.

Method of starting (rotate in direction of arrow to “wind” and let go) works well
Much easier to start than one I had about 20 years ago that had string or tried dragging it across a surface. Tricky to get best motion to get to high speed but that is the way they work. Cool to have lights in the device when running. (Meant to mark 5 stars on earlier rating but put comments and hit submit first)

Lasted 30 days
Been using for a little over 30 days, and all of a sudden it started making a lot of scratching noises and there is an unusual vibration due to an imbalance. The item was working really good and strengthening my wrist and forearm, but I can't afford to buy one every month. For the money it should have lasted longer.

Good wrist workout
This ball is something else. It really gives your wrist a workout. Fun to use just takes a little getting use to to keep it going.
