Know what you are buying...decide if it is for you!
My personal experience with the Fitbug Orb has been mixed - hence the moderate rating. I need it to 'prove' to my life insurer that I lead an active lifestyle, hence bought this as it was the cheapest device (white was cheaper compared to the black) compatible with the insurers website.Since March 2017, Fitbug do not directly sell the Fitbug Orb (or any other device) - they are now a Digital Wellness provider to companies (whatever that means).1. In order to track your steps, you must download the mobile app (Android & iOs) called Kiqplan and pair them using Bluetooth.2. Configuring the device can be a bit finicky, but once done have not had issues syncing.3. You would be advised to buy a CR 2032 battery (online) as 9/10 the one you receive will be discharged (mine was)4. I'd say the step count is accurate when walking, provided you configure your weight, height and sex.5. I can confirm, the step count is far from accurate when 'running' - there used be a 'Stride Extender' function which compensated to a degree in the previous Fitbug app. This is no more the case with Kiqplan. In conclusion, if you are a beginner unsure on whether you are disciplined to activity tracking - £20-£25 is worth spending on this device. If you are not tied down to product choice (there are other cheaper options too).PS: This specific purchase was a replacement for one that I'd been using for a few months. Note: I lost one owing to my own carelessness not any product design shortcomings. I wear the Orb on my belt or on my shorts (when running) - have not had a situation where it has popped out.

Works well. Poor customer service.
Works really well, but setting up the app was a bit fussy at first. I did have some queries, which I emailed to the FitBug people, but they totally ignored me and have still not replied. Luckily, I knew someone who had one, so I was able to get some help. It is a simple design and comes with two ways to wear it. As a watch, which I found too bulky for my wrist, or in a clip that attaches to your belt or pocket. Beware, though, I did lose mine while walking (it was on the clip) so the clip may not be the most safe way to wear it. I just put my new one in my front pocket. I did find the "continuous streaming" mode didn't work and I have to press the button for it to send information to my phone. I don't mind, though, because it means the battery will last longer. It takes a small battery similar to the ones in car key rings, which is not rechargeable, but seems to be lasting quite a long time (the box says 6 months). Overall quite pleased, but I dropped a star for the poor customer service.

just OK- I question it's accuracy
I've been using the Fitbug for a few weeks now -it's OK for the price (£34 from Amazon) but I do have a few issues. First it's accuracy. I completed over 10km today but even though I've been wearing the Fitbug all day it says I've only done @ 4 miles! Secondly the strap has come undone a few times, third when I was out of the UK in Different time zone I could not see how many steps I'd done ,fourthly the face is easily scratched & last it's inconvenient for me that it's not fully waterproof. It was quite easy to set up & seems to sync ok with my 'phone. It does not record other aerobic activity such as cycling, rowing or even going on the cross trainer.

Disappointing with a flaky app
Use this with an iPad - it is neat and very easy to wear - I wear mine tucked in my top. The wrist band is an irritation as the Orb is a blank unit. Measurements seem to be relatively accurate, but is a very expensive step counter. I do find the stats fairly interesting and a good record of improvement....... Bluetooth connection sometimes takes three or four attempts to link to iPad and I do find that irritating and also, when you open various pages in the app it does crash a bit too often. All in all not a bad piece of kit, was easy to set up and pair but just those irritations. Sometimes wish I'd bought the Air.

Fantastic FitBug!
I was bought one of these clever little devices for Christmas and I have to say it's absolutley brilliant!! It was so easy to set up, I just had to download the app and it now tracks my steps and monitors my sleep etc. and remits the data seamlessly to my smartphone and tablet by bluetooth. There are many higher cost devices on the market which largely do the same thing, so in terms of value for money FitBug rates very highly for me. In my opinion, FitBugs USP is the 3 x main differentiators. Firstly, it does not need to be regularly re-charged as many devices do and, secondly, it is much more discrete because you can just put the tiny little orb in your pocket or on your belt (which is great whilst at work) rather than having to wear an additional 'watch like' instrument on your wrist - however, it can be worn on the wrist too should you wish, which is especially useful at night for monitoring sleep. Finally, it can also be linked with the "Kiqplan" app, a weight loss and fitness training and coaching tool which is unique to Fitbug!Overall, having a FitBug is a great tool for tracking activity as a means of improving overall fitness and ultimately weight loss. I find knowing how active I've been (or not as the case may be!) really useful as I often find myself doing extra steps just to get my stats up!!Don't hesitate, give it a go.
