Great floss. It's not tying thread!
This is floss. You really shouldn't be trying to tie flies with this. It's used to add accents or wrap bodies with. It's pretty good floss and a decent value. It's got a very minor "wave" but lays down fine and looks good as a wrap. Just dont expect to throw it on a bobbin and tie flies with it. That's not what its for.

May be smaller denier than advertised
I like this thread. I was using the smallest I could find at a sewing store and it was way too large in diameter. This thread does unravel a lot at the end but I can spin the thread and tighten it up when tying a fly for flyfishing. It seems pretty weak though. I think it is supposed to be about 150-200 denier but it seems more like 100. It breaks if you pull firmly with it. But it beats the heck out of the much larger string I had.

Very disappointed - Not fit for tying flies of any kind
Very frustrating to work with. I tie a lot of flies for toothy saltwater fish. They get shredded fairly quickly so I try to find cheaper materials to make flies in larger quantities, and not necessarily trying to make them durable. I was excited about this product when I ordered. A good variety of colors and priced around $1/spool, it seemed to fit my needs perfectly. The unfortunate reality is this thread is so poorly made it is almost impossible to work with. When cut, it begins to unravel at the end and shrivel up. It breaks almost by looking at it. You cannot even tie a half hitch to finish a fly without it breaking, much less a whip finish.I tied a total of 3 flies with this stuff using two different spools just to make sure it was not one defective spool. All three flies suffered multiple breaks while I was wrapping, and then I had to build up an epoxy head because I could not whip finish.Return/refund request has been initiated with Amazon, but it would be disservice to allow an extra star for customer service because the product is simply not suitable for its purpose.

It has it’s purpose
The thread itself is very soft almost like 80-90% cotton and 10-20% polyester. It doesnt feel like tying thread compared to brands such as uni-thread or vevus. Can it be use to tie flies, YES! But when it comes to the more delicate dries I would stick to the fly shop thread. It takes thread wax very well but be cautious it can have the tendency to wad up. As far as tying larger flies #8 up to #1 it works fine for that. It does really well with hair such as deer, and elk. It handles the extra tension needed to bind the hair down to the hook. Like i said it has its purposes. Decent thread for the money.
