When it works, it’s brilliant, you almost don’t need instructions
This is the fourth ATO I have bought in the last 3 years and it is the simplest to use. I consider the level detection methodology brilliant.All the electronics sit outside the tank. The little controller shines a light through the tank wall which is reflected by an optical cone in the magnetic holder in the tank (my guess). Only the passive reflector is in the water and secures the controller to the outside of the tank magnetically. Easy! Comes with everything you need.You just have to flip a coin to know which controller jack takes the power plug and which jack takes the pump plug (identical). I couldn’t detect any markings and as others have commented, there are no instructions.I guessed right (perhaps it doesn’t matter). Looking at the control panel, left is power, right is pump (left to right flow logic).4/12/18 update (after 2 months)One of mine now has the problems others have reported. The ones that work, still work well.

Sensor doesn't work, It overfills
First time I went to turn it on, it did not stop filling up past the sensor. had to unplug so my tank wouldnt overfill. I tested again and the unit would keep filling past the sensor, I shined a flashlight on the sensor and it seemed to finally see that it was overfilling. I think the only way this unit will function properly is if it constantly has a light on in the sump. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND anyone to trust this unit.I'm open to changing my rating, but first I need some answers from "Hallen" about why their units are overfilling sumps

easy to set up seems to be working good so far and half the price of the name brand one. I wish it came with instructions but it does not but it says it has a 3 yr warranty but not sure who i would call or email if there was a problem but works good so far! Update now it’s even turning on below water and filling up past the whole eye and have no way to contact company to figure out why... beware do not buy as there is no way to contact company

Doesn’t work properly
Constantly goes into “bubble noise” alarm. I tried to explain to manufacturer but they don’t understand a sump based aquarium and tell me it’s supposed to go in the aquarium itself. Water level only changes in sump. I’ve had multiple emails back and forth with no solution except that I’ve installed wrong which I know it’s not. Spend your money on an osmolator and don’t buy this Chinese knock off.

Don’t waste your money, buy a name brand unit.
This system is cheap, which is why I purchased it to try. Very simple setup with no instructions (don’t worry they don’t include them anyway. First thing I learned the deal that holds the hose, zip tie the hose to it. When it kicked on it shot the hose back out of holder and dumped 5 gallons of water on my floor. Second, mine comes on when it’s supposed to, however it will not shut off. It will continue to pump the whole 5 gallons even after the water raises back above the sensor.

The ato came with no instructions or information about warranty even though website says it has a 3 year warranty. Mine is still acting up and keeps filling even when water goes above sensor. I had to unplug it and still trying to figure out why it is not working correctly. I do not want s flood.

Super easy to set up(5 min)
Super easy to set up(5 min). Works like a champ, and is half the price of competition. Only one week in but I will update periodically. So far my water level has stayed exactly the same, which means stabile salinity.
