ok for chickens,composts well, good value for money
I've bought rapestraw in the past that claimed to be 'high quality' but was super dusty and brittle. this stuff is really good. I use it for chickens for which its fine if they're free ranging during the day.its much less expensive than most chicken bedding and it composts down really well when i later mix it with horse manure.

Just dry, sawdust like. No strand longer than a few centimetres.
My aim with this "straw" was to make a nice cosy bed for my chickens to rest in. However, this wont be possible because this is not straw. It is simply dust in a bag. I could likely use this to line the bottom of their coop. But they are outdoor animals and i wanted to make them an outdoor nesting area. This dust will simply blow away.
