This FITS 2001-2004 Duramax - and it's great
Despite Amazon's wrong info, this FITS a 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax Diesel LB7 engine (and probably later versions of the Duramax as well). This is (a) according the Royal Purple's oil filter guide, and (b) my own first-hand experience running it on my truck. Great filter, approved/tested by the same manufacturer of the oil I use. Nice to keep it all in the Royal Purple family (the Royal family! LOL). Their 15W-40 combined with this extended life filter has allowed me to do 1 year oil change intervals while still running smoother and quieter than dino oil or synth blend, and better than even Mobile 1, which I swear buy for all my other vehicles. Great company, outstanding service, and excellent product quality.

It's a good filter. If you're patient enough to do massive research you could probably find better.
This is a very good filter made by Champion industries who made many filters for many brands. If I remember correctly this filter is built to the exact same specifications as the Ams oil filter which I am also a big fan of. Although, I don't care for royal purple oil, I've done my research on this filter and I am pleased.

Watch the rattle
I ordered two of these, each rattled. I reached out to RP directy and they said that if they rattle they have been damaged in shipping and to not use them. I have ran them in the past with great luck, but the last two i got took a hard bounce in transit.
