The characters are the children who are bold and enterprising, but also the children who turn out to be a werewolf, a vampire, and a boy who is haunted.Negatives are that the book is kiddy and can only be enjoyed if it is read as a farce. It has little literary merit: the narrative is all conversation and action with little description and atmosphere. The story is hyperbolic. Events are wildly implausible. In short, this is magic on steroids.Children aged 10-12 years will enjoy the book. Older children and adults may prefer to give it a pass.
