Slayers: A Buffyverse Story

Enjoyed the hell out of it
I was a huge fan of the original BTVS. To my way of thinking, if I were to trust a Buffy-related story to anyone, it would be Chris Golden and Amber Benson. So for me, this was a no-brainer purchase. I listened to most of it during a solo road trip and I enjoyed the hell out of it.It was so great to hear the voices of many of the original cast members, including Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, and James Marsters. In a way, it was like hearing from old friends. The story itself was interesting and I liked how they were able to bring Cordelia back for this tale. I’ve seen plenty of other reviews that rehash the plot, so no need to go into all of that here. Suffice it to say, the story is engaging and there are plenty of little callbacks and Easter eggs fans will pick up on.I also liked how this was an audio production, rather than just a narrated story. That means you not only hear from the different actors and actresses, but you get some sound effects as well, which adds to the immersion into the story. All in all, highly recommended.

The Scooby Gang is Back...mostly
This is not just someone reading a book. It is a "theater of the mind" and the parts are acted out by the original characters. It also involves an alternate reality, so characters who were killed off in the original 'verse, such as Amber Benson's character, Tara and Charisma Carpenter's character, Cordelia Chase, (who died in the Angel spinoff) are back in the alternate 'verse. Buffy, Willow and Xander don't appear, but Spike, Cordelia, Giles, Drusilla, Tara, Anya and others are there, along with a spunky new slayer, Indira, who just got her powers over breakfast. Spike's best demon friend, Clem provides a lot of humor. It starts out years after the end of the series. The original 'verse is populated with hundreds of slayers due to the spell Willow was able to cast at the end to awaken every potential slayer when she came of age. Cordelia is the one and only slayer of her alternate reality and travels to get help for her world. Giles is pulled out of retirement and the gang travels to Cordelia's world to stop Drusilla. The story is cleverly written by Amber Benson and, happily, the end does leave the door open for future adventures. More please!

Most Have for Any Buffy fan
I wasn't sure if this was something I should get. No Buffy and an alternate story. I heard the sample and was sold. The cast brings back the magic instantly and Marsters slipping back into the role seamlessly. The story is fresh and full of humor and wit. My only complaint is that it ended too early.

Buffyverse
If you live the show, you will love this. I'm always wanting more from the buffyverse and I love Amber Benson, so I was so excited to listen to this. It takes place in the Buffyverse many years later. What I loved:-all of the original cast mates that were involved-Spike's narrationWhat I didn't love:-some of the extraneous sounds they were using would be louder than when the characters were talking which made it difficult to understand everything that was happening

A much better continuation of the shows than the comics
Most of the cast does an excellent job. Tony Head sounds a bit drunk/old as Giles, but perhaps he got less direction than the other cast members due to recording his lines remotely from England. The writing is much better than the "official" comic book continuations, even though we don't actually spend any time with Buffy herself.

This is the story!
I loved it- I loved pretty much every bit of this- there are a few characters I was hoping for something different from going in (and still holding out hope for if they continue the series), but by the end- I was sold. Great story, great actors and the love behind this project is palpable. More please!!

Addicted to Buffy!
This is an amazing audio. Sound is phenomenal. Hearing the voices of Buffy past makes my heart happy. It is like listening to a movie instead of a typical audible book reading. Kudos to the cast!!
