Fits well and protects my legs

I'm a 5'7 woman with what I'd like to think are not tree trunk sized legs. But after reading other reviewers suggestions that people get a larger size than they normally would I went for the L/XL. Glad I did... these gaiters fit snuggly but they're a nice slim fit with no flappy bits sticking out that other gaiters have had. However I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that these were gore tex mainly because in the table (see above) which lists different gaiters berghaus offer these definitely state gore tex. But nowhere on the product or the info that came with the gaiters does it state gore tex... Others might be more in the know but I was under the impression that they were goretex. They are waterproof but I don't think gore tex. So a bit disappointed but they do fit well and do the job..

I was concerned which size to buy as I could not find where the measurements 40cm & 45cm were from and to in the description but finally decided on the L/XL Long. These measure 45cm from the front hook to the top and 42cm from the heal to the top at the back. Thankfully they fit me perfectly with the top sitting above my calf muscle but below the back of my knee. Previous gaiters I have had always tended to crumple down when I was walking unless I over tightened the top but this was uncomfortable. These are much better with the top sitting at the narrower part of my leg above my calf muscle. I have only just received these well packaged and within the delivery period given and are of good quality so I am sure they will be great. The instep strap has Velcro adjustable fastening on the inside so no trailing strap ends and is simple to adjust when you first get them then forget. Also if the 42cm back length is slightly to long for you the gaiter can be lowered down the heal of your boot if required using the instep strap. The metal hook appears to be good quality and the Velcro being 4cm wide gives a good positive seal, keep your leg straight then it is easy to line up. Much better than zips. The top has an adjustable cord but note that the button cord release is under the material and not visible but easy to find when you know.

They do the job but I still don't really like them. I use them moutain biking to keep stones and mud out and to stop nettles and roses from being annoying but given a choice I would have stuck to my 40 year old canvass Berghaus gaiters with a zip up the back. What I find fidly is the velcro, it nevers seems to fit properly with the button at the top not lining up. That's progress I suppose but I doubt these new gaiters will still be working in 40 years time.

I've bought a few pairs over the years and all have fails with the external elasticated pull strings to tighten over the calf. All have broken when they have caught on my boots whilst walking. The berghaus has internal elastic which is far more secure and the heel straps are internal too. Spent a bit more and got better quality and feel as though these will last.

The rubber strap that goes under foot is to long , can’t shorten it re Velcro almost out of its hooks/eyes ie too long , when walking in say a forest there is a rubber loop under your foot just waiting to snag a root /branch and throw you down ,The is rubber too thick too long ,They weren’t cheap , and had to try them out so now can’t return themMores the pitty, !!!!!Perhaps berghaus would send me a shorter under foot Velcro strap ,Pigs might fly

Very big for a 5,3 lady.The stirrups are enormous!!If you have skim legs these are just to big.

I have used them in a variety of snow conditions and found the fit to be excellent , thanks to the sturdy velcro vents. In the longer term, one thing I would worry about is the fact that the underfoot strap is made of plastic, but this seems sturdy and so far, so good.
