Excellent train set that fits a generic wooden railway, definitely worth the money. Bought for a 4 Yr old who loves it.

Not fully compatible with old track.
Although technically the new trains are fully compatible with the older versions of the Tomy Trackmaster track this is not strictly accurate. The new trains are slightly different from the old ones underneath where the chassis of the engines of the new ones is lower and tends to catch on every little imperfection and incline. I daresay they are perfectly ok on new track.

Nice train set!
Perfect for the trackmaster set. We bought the cheapest full train set and track, then bought a few sets like this along with the bucket of tracks to expand. Lots of fun and highly recommend these trains!

Not compatible with Brio or similar train sets.
This is a funny product, it is NOT compatible with Brio or other similar brands of wooden train sets, but it is of similar size. The crane engine is a bit too high and It does not work well on the normal wooden tracks being used. It won’t go around tight corners, it falls off, or it won’t go under bridges, too high and it will not climb ramps in the track, wheelbase is a tad too long. It does not use a magnetic catch to connect to other train cars, but rather plastic hooks. It only goes forward and it is quite noisy. It does not work well on carpets, so about the only option is using it on wooden floors, going in 1 direction only. Try explaining all this to a 3 year old….anyway definitely not a fan of what is being sold here, even as a stand alone unit!
