Well made mold for either rod or plate ingots
I did read another review where they had received an unfinished mold. That isn't my experience. The mold I received was well made and well finished. There are no scratches or surface imperfections.I am somewhat confused by the product description. This mold makes 4 different sized rods, and it makes flat plates. It cannot make a half round rod and it certainly isn't a wire mold.Bright copper currently sells for $3.00 a pound. I typically take scraps of bright copper wire, strip it with a mechanical wire stripper, melt it and pour. Doesn't take much effort to create $100 worth of copper ingots that can be efficiently stored until they make their way to the scrap yard. This little mold makes the process faster as I get 4 different sized rods on the same pour. Always better to have a larger pour.Overall, this is a good mold for creating poured metal ingots. The handle could have been slightly larger to accommodate my particular sized paws with a glove, but it isn't too small. Larger handle is more of a personal preference.I'm sure the earlier reviewer with the unfinished mold wasn't happy seeing the unfinished mold but hopefully that is an accident, and most will receive a well finished mold like I received.

It does the job.
I got this for my husband's metal working hobby. He's been making silver and such.He was SUPER excited about this and explained to me why it was such a good item, LOL. Apparently you can use it to make thin wires or flat bars. It was heavy and sturdy and held up to having molten metal poured into it.

Unfinished, mold-shaped object
The mold I received had deep gouges in the rod ingot section. The flat ingot section was covered in unfinished rough mill-cut pattern and scale. I had to do a lot of file work and sanding to get this mold to a useable condition. It was probably a factory reject. I would have returned it, but I needed something immediately to get a job done. Do not recommend.
