This can be used for dry food or dry treats and encourages your pets natural skills at sniffing and snuffling food out. Alternative to hard plastic bowls - Slowing down a fast eater by feeding from a snuffle mat instead of a bowl. - Preventing missing fur on their nose and even redness from pushing their nose into the cracks to try and get the food. The mat lets them use their natural senses Since most of the food will be buried, your dog will have to use her nose to root it out as well as her eyes. Then, she will have to use her paws to dig or her teeth to maneuver the fleece strips to get at the food. This takes a lot more mental and physical stimulation than most slow feeding bowls. A quick note about safety: - Do not leave your animal unsupervised with a snuffle mat.
