OTTERBOX Commuter Series Samsung Galaxy S5 Case - Retail Packaging Protective Case for Galaxy S5 - Blueprint (Slate Grey/Deep Water)

I was a very late smartphone adopter- I didn't get one until December of 2015, and a big part of the reason for that was financial, so when I did finally get a one I wanted to make sure it was well protected from drop damage, weather, and my general clumsiness! I bought a (black) Commuter case for it when I first got the phone. The hard outer shell made it very hard for folks on the other end of a call to hear me, I found that it affected the speaker output when playing video/music, and, because the hard shell is smooth plastic it resulted in more slips and falls for the phone. So I took it off. Even without the external shell, the inner, rubbery sleeve has protected my phone from fall after fall, from heights up to eight feet and onto every type of surface- asphalt, concrete, you name it. I drop my phone *a lot.* The raised lip of the inner sleeve protects the screen by forming a buffer- when the phone falls the screen and its edges are protected by this lip- genius. I commute everywhere in Seattle by foot or bus, in every season and every weather. My phone gets shoved into a bag reminiscent of the "You never know when you're gonna have to jam" bag from The Breakfast Club, where it bangs up against keys, hardback books, waterbottles and god knows what else. I just bought this new Commuter case, not because the old one is failing in any way but because my new little puppy nibbled on the silicone sleeve and it has a few teeth marks- and it was an excuse to get one with some color! The old case (18 months of constant use) is still perfectly functional, though nibbled. The new case is great (though I wish they had a wider color selection and that the colored cases were the same price as the black one- the black option is currently 40% cheaper than the blue/slate option, why?) and I imagine that when the time for a new phone comes, I'll be back for a new commuter case. With Otterbox's excellent protection, though, I expect my phone to die of old age rather than damage. [The only caveat here is that I don't use the stick on screen protector that's included, but a stick on protector from Tech Armor, so I don't know how that has affected protection from drop damage.]

I just received this case and upon first installation I was not happy with how it fit. Up by the headphone port there was a gap between the plastic and the softer inside. I had read some previous reviews that had this as a problem.So I took the case off and realized that I had put it on wrong. Here is a tip to get it to fit properly up by the headphone port. With the case completely off the phone, insert the rubber part into the plastic part at the top. I had to pull on the headphone cover a little bit and then it popped into place and the headphone cover looked flush with the plastic. THEN I slid the top of the phone into the assembled rubber/plastic case. Once the top was in, then I just worked around the edge, first sliding the rubber on, then sliding the plastic on and VOILA!!! It fit perfect!So, once I installed it properly, I was very happy with the fit. The only reason it loses a star is that when I talk on the phone for any length of time, the ridge around the edge of the case presses up against my ear and it gets a little tender after a while (5 to 10 minutes. It would be nice if this lip was a little rounder, or something. It's not bad enough that I'm going to send it back. I do like the case. I like how it looks, I like how it fits, and it seems like it will protect the phone nicely. I honestly don't talk on the phone a lot and figure I can just adjust my grip and maybe not press it against my head as hard.

This is a great case for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The fit is perfect and protects to phone wonderfully. This product also included the screen protector which is a plus. I have only had this product for a couple weeks but cannot find any issues with the item. The price on Amazon was also a great deal. This was a twenty dollar difference compared to the big box stores. Installation was quick and easy to do on your own. I am really pleased with this Commuter series case for my S5. I had the Defender for my Galaxy S3 previously, and although I was happy with that one, the silicon shell stretched over time and didn't retain a snug fit for more than a couple of months. The clips on the Defender also broke off over time, either from drops (case did it's job well) or from trying to pry the thing off of the phone. Otterbox was great and replaced the Defender case once because of these issues.This Commuter case has not/will not have these issues since the silicon shell is directly applied to the phone and then the harder plastic shell is snapped on over that, without using clips. It seems to protect the phone nearly as well but has the added benefit of feeling MUCH thinner and lighter. The edges of the phone screen are easier to access because the case edge has a lower profile. This makes putting the large S5 in my pocket significantly easier than it was with the Defender.

This is my first Otterbox box. Didn't understand until I opened the box that part that was blue would be covered, which essentially makes this a grey case with a blue rim. Which is not what I wanted, but should have checked their product info out more thoroughly before buying.The case does not have a perfect fit to my phone, there is a tiny gap on the bottom where the grey piece locks onto the blue, I can see a thin gap and I'm not sure what causes that? It seems secure inside though, the the case buttons access the phones buttons easily.I've had my Galaxy s5 for a week and the entire time I was holding my breath afraid I would drop it. This case is advertised a smooth finish that allows it to slide out of your pocket easily, I would agree that is true.They included a complimentary screen protector and micro fibre cloth.I would have 5 starred if there was more colour selection or an actual blue case was available. not just a blue accent colour

Excellent solution to protecting your galaxy S5. Does the job and looks great. I bought it for my husband who makes a habit of dropping his phone and has done on numerous occasions since I fitted it. The phone is fine and the Otterbox still looks like new. I highly recommend this product.

The case itself is fine and I'm still using it. I took in the screen protector to get it put on correctly and they said it looked like the screen protector that came with it had either been used or returned. It was unusable. I'm not going to waste my time returning everything so I just bought a new screen protector. Love Otterbox cases, but I will be wary about ordering them online.

For the price, it was a good by. Checked the serial number on Otterbox's site, and it is legit. Fits good and does the tric.

Doesn't need a review. It's an Otterbox. IMO the best case for a phone, period. I'm sure there are other good ones out there, but I've only used Otterbox. Bought one for my Galaxy S3, then my S4 and now my S5. I have dropped my phone multiple times, off of tables, from my hands and TWICE down a flight of stairs... NOT A SINGLE CRACK... Love this thing... Must have for phones!
