Great value Tenor ukulele
I have some experience of playing the accoustic guitar but recently wanted to try playing the ukuleleRead the reviews on the Aklot Tenor solid mahogany ukulele and although sceptical due to the price thought it was worth taking a risk.On unpacking my initial impression was it looks a really well finished instrument and as far as able to tell it is of all solid construction. The accessory kit is welcome. The tuner seems to agree with my other tuner and is very easy to use. The strap is nice quality and the rest of the accessory's will be useful.I tuned it and checked the intonation which according to the tuner is perfect.I am really impressed with the finish and cant fault it with no signs of excess glue. The biggest concern I had was the frets might be sharp but on my instrument they were very smooth. On starting to play in my opinion the tone is really nice and it has good sustain. The only criticism is that on my one the action is a little high 3.5mm at the twelfth fret but I will let the instrument settle for a week before adjusting. That said it is easy to play out of the box. This is my third ukulele, the first being a Flight concert round back which my wife has commandeered! I built a second from a kit which was not a straight forward as the advert implied and had to be modified in a number of ways to make it playable and I am still trying to dress the frets. The Aklot definitely sounds superior to this one.To summarise I am very happy with the Aklot and think for the price or even spending another £20 or £30 would have been lucky to find a better one. I was tempted to give it a 4 star rating due to the previously mentioned slightly high action but feel considering the price and the otherwise excellent quality and value that would have been harsh.UPDATEAfter removing 1mm from the base of the bone bridge to ( a common and easy adjustment to guitars and ukuleles) it has made the good ukulele into an excellent one. I can only highly recommend the Aklot Tenor to anyone looking to buy their first Ukulele or those who want to upgrade.

Perfect for Big Hands, Sounds Great, Top Quality, Price on the Money!
I bought a Soprano Ukulele (Pure Tone), & whilst it was nice it was too small for my big hands & fingers - On my 1st Uke Club Session I borrowed a Tenor Uke and it was great. Once home so checked out what was available and ordered the Aklot Tenor Ukulele with the built in tuner, pre-amp, & starter kit. The Uke arrived next day and I can honestly say well worth it.The quality of the wood is great, it doesn't have a thick layer of lacquer, it has just enough to protect the wood and still produce a warm sound. The included strap does let the looks down a bit, it's a chequered design, and not really to my tastes, but hey, it's there if you want to attach it (there are many Ukulele straps to buy for under £4 if you shop around)The case is lovely and padded with a pocket at the front that is big enough for the included booklet & extras supplied. This is a comfortable & easy to tune Ukulele with the built in tuner (takes 2x CR2032 Batteries which are supplied) - there is no markings to tell you which way up the batteries go, but if the tuner doesn't work quickly remove the batteries and insert the other way around - this is a slight oversight, it just needs an identification mark so you can fit the batteries easily. The batteries also power the pre-amp if you are going to use an amplifier; yes you have can Electruc as well as a great sounding Acoustic Instrument!Very happy, and for beginners very accommodating. Find someone to learn with and watch some YouTube tutorials there are some great videos out there to help you play the Ukulele even if you have only just picked it up for the 1st time.Word of Advice - when buying your Ukulele, don't go for cheap & pretty, look for a good hard wood body, that is simple to tune, and one that gives a nice Tone when played.Enjoy!

Sounds great, played every day for months!
The media could not be loaded. So this was my second ever Ukulele, after a very unhappy experience with a cheap £25 soprano. I realised I needed more space on the fret board for playing better and as a result this instrument has helped me go from beginner to intermediate for how well it plays and feels. The kit -As described, it came with gig bag, Aklot branded tuner, spare strings (generic, nylon, nice quality), a gig strap (checkerboard coloured, handy), and a few things like chord chart and beginners guide. For the price, this was perfect. The sound -I have included a video of the sound as it plays nicely. It has open geared tuners which are high ratio - I didn't know what that meant at first but now I know that essentially means more accurate tunings and less 'slip' so even if it does need a tune up its a tweak here and there, not way out. Resonance in the high end can be a bit sharp. I am impressed as I have since played, and own, much higher priced ukulele's and this holds its own against double its price range easily comparable to any Kala solid mahogany options (which are all around £100-150).The ukulele -Pros -I really like the etched logo, lovely carved/etched out rosette and the bird saddle. I love how this has real bone and decent enough strings to make it sound and play nicely. I love how easy it is to play. The frets were not sharp and I have not needed to sand or alter the set up at all. The bridge/nut/saddle all as stock and work lovely. The weighting is nice. The price makes this a great great option.Cons -The finish could be nicer with a thicker gloss lacquer, as after months of daily playing in places it has shined up and other places flattened out, but that is wear and tear. As mentioned, the resonance in the high end can be a bit sharp but nice bass and good intonation so it is more likely to be string related rather than the wood. I would change the strings but it plays so nicely in the mid ranges and for most of my stuff and stays in tune so well that I almost do not want to. The lack of closed gears and the peculiar string slotting through the body, means if i am picky, it takes longer to bed into a stretched tune but in fairness it holds tune for days.Overall -I think for the price this is a simply wonderful recommendation. I have played at least 1-2 hours a day on this very Ukulele for nearly 2 months and I have not had any real fault with it. I have since fallen into a Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome and have 6 ukulele's and love to play this one still, over and over, as it is consistent. Considering this is a low priced (around £50-60) ukulele, it competes with mid range (circa £100-150) all day long.**I would highly recommend, and think this best serves someone like me who has/had a soprano and needs to have a bit more room for fingering the chords, but does not yet want to commit to something that will be £300. It really allowed me to grow as a player from a basic beginner, knowing nothing, to playing 40+ chords and at pace. That is the closest you can get to the definition of a Beginner to Intermediate and this Uke got me there.**

Perfection, for an incredibly affordable price.
I am very picky with my ukuleles and I own some pricey ones, tenor and sopranos. I wanted to try a concert and decided to go with the Aklot, just to see if I like the concert size, without having much expectations on quality due to the very affordable price. Well, I cannot believe it. This Aklot concert is great! Great looks, built with great attention to details, perfect set up from the factory, and most important: great sound! Loud and clear, I still cannot believe it. Highly recommended.

Good quality instrument for a good price
This is a quality instrument. I have had it for about 3 years. If you're starting out, I recommend paying a little more for this instead of spending $30 on a bad ukulele. This one has a solid wood top and some other nice features such as rounded corners, an even fret board with no buzzing, and even strap pegs. It also comes with a lot of bonus items such as a digital tuner. I did change the strings to Aquila strings. The only complaints I have are the tuning pegs are a little cheap (but that is not a big deal since they work and you don't notice them), and the bird design is not to everyone's tastes.Overall, this is the best deal for a starter ukulele. It is of good quality and playability for just a little bit more money.

Molto molto bello
