Used for 10+ years. Tips for use including using a black light to check the UV coating
For over 10 years I have found these to be effective in preventing bird strikes against our string of 8 large windows and two glass french doors that face our bird feeders. We have had up to 300 gold finches at our feeders (counted by filled perches). We also have many thrashers, cardinals, doves, wrens, sparrows, nuthatches and chickadees among others. That said, there are some aspects of their use that need to be taken into consideration.1) You need to use enough leaves. I have ended up using 3 on a window pane that is 26” x 32”.2) Use a black light to see if the UV coating is still there. I tried that for the first time today before putting the leaves back up after cleaning the windows. I was astonished to find that 8 had degraded coating, and 12 had NO coating left even though you could still feel the roughness on the side that used to have the coating. The difference between the coating working and not is easily seen inside with the black light. I had them on a wood table when I used the light. I have ordered a bottle of the Window Alert UV liquid and intend to see if that can be applied to the “dead” leaves before I throw them away. I do not date the leaves, but some could have been over a year old. So that is consistent with the advertisement and instructions.3) I noted today in the instructions as I applied 8 new ones, that the static-cling is restored by rinsing in lukewarm water. I found that they apply nicely with much less air bubbles (even the new ones) if I just lay them for a second or two in lukewarm water (which quickly became cool outside). It is easy to squeegee with a paper towel and then your finger to get the air and water bubbles from underneath. Start from the middle and work out.4) We have learned to close the solid front door because it appeared that the birds could see through the back glass french doors down the hall, see light through the glass storm door and think they could fly through. Even though the glass back doors had 3-4 leaves each, the light at the end of the hall was too deceptive and we would have maybe one bird strike per year there and maybe one near hit, usually when there was a panic fly away from the feeders.5) A negative that makes it 4 star - We found that when we removed them to clean the windows last week, maybe 3 or 4 had transferred some of their plastic to the window and required scraping with a razor blade. We were using diluted ammonia to clean the window. That was adequate, with some hard rubbing and a dish scratchpad, to remove the outline of the leaves, but not the patches of plastic. Reading another blog, I will try full strength ammonia before scraping if this happens again.

Very Effective and Not Unattractive
We have a 20 x 40 deck hovering over a steep slope behind our house. A 3 ft. high glass barrier borders the entire deck. Wonderful for unobstructed views but deadly for the Towhees and Goldfinches that feed around the house; especially the Goldfinches. 2 or 3 per week was an intolerable loss rate. I tried placing potted plants in strategic locations along the glass border but those plants became perches and launching sites that ended in disaster. So I tried the Window Alert Maple Leaf decals. I removed everything else from near the glass and gave the decals a good chance to prove their worth.Bottom line - in the many months since installation only one (1) Goldfinch has given his life for research. The frosted leaves do not detract from the appearance of the glass. In fact, they look pretty good while doing a great service to birddom. I give them 5 stars out of 5.Instructions say the leaves lose their effectiveness in about 9 months so I bought enough to replace the originals. There aren't many per package so measure carefully and order a little bit extra. One note: we have a lot of house finches, hummingbirds, and house wrens nesting and feeding around our place. In 10 years, not one member of these species has crashed into the glass, or should I say I have never found an expired specimen?

100% reduction in window related stunnery
The worst feeling is when you hear the thunk of a bird (that you've cared enough to feed and observe) smashes into your big ole window. We have a gargantuan (around 8x4) window at the front of our house where birds collect for our feeders, at least 3 times a DAY we would have "bumps" which leave them stunned and vulnerable to the neighborhood cats - occasionally we have the misfortune of loosing these little guys.Well guess what! I thought these things would be too good to be true - but since we've had them - NOT ONE incident! I purchased this package and the assorted leaves and spaced them decoratively around the window. They look pretty - I'm not the type to decorate windows, but they are subtle enough that they don't distract from the view outside (after all, we do want to look at the birds) and if I have to replace them annually - for 10 dollars (ish) it's absolutely worth it.

Hooray, they work!!
This is a great product. I have had only one bird strike since putting these Maple Leaves on our big patio door off the deck. That is where the bird feeders are lining the deck and hanging off the shepherd hooks. There is a huge amount of bird activity there. So I moved a couple of them a little closer together and raised them all so they were about three feet from the bottom of the window. The strikes have stopped completely.......so far. the Maple Leaves look pretty on the glass and are doing a great job. I will buy more of them when needed and highly recommend them as a solution to birds striking windows.

They seem to help
These decals are easy to apply. You can see them on the windows but they seem to help stop the birds from flying into the windows, somewhat, so they are worth the slight visual obstruction.

Avoid those awful "thunks"
We hate it when we hear that awful "Thunk" that means another bird has hit a window on the back of the house where we have several feeders in the yard. We got some of these decals last year and can testify that the number of collisions have greatly declined. One per window is not really enough, so we increased it to two and the results are even better. They are easy to apply, but don't leave them on for more than a year (like we did). After that long, they lose their effectiveness and also require a razor blade to remove. Instructions say to remove after six to nine months, and I agree with that. We now keep a supply on hand. These "WindowAlerts" really do make a difference.

Actually worked
This product is actually working (I thought it would be like snake oil). We had multiple female cardinals flying into one of our large windows, killing 2 in less than a week. Since placing these stickers on the window we haven't had a single death, and FAR FEWER hitting it overall.

Attractive and saving our bird life
Attractive and easy to use. We encourage birds into our garden and have large windows to watch them so these maple leaf decals are perfect to discourage them from flying into the glass, especially the youngsters.

Requires higher than 50 F temperature and must be applied from the outside
I bought several packages of these reflectors to prevent birds from flying into our sunroom windows. What I was not told in the promotional information is that the decals need to be applied in temperatures above 50 F and on the outside of the windows. I am a disabled senior citizen and it is very cold outside so I am waiting for someone to help me who is able to climb up a ladder, with a blowdryer on an extension cord, to heat the glass and install the decals. I certainly wish I had know this before I bought the product. I expect that I will need to wait until next summer to apply them. Also, I did not know that they lose their reflective properties and need to be replaced every few months. This is much more work and expense than I had hoped it would be. It would have been good to know all of this before I ordered them.

Protecting the Birds
Bought these decals in the summer of 2018. Placed them on some of the glass panels of our deck. This was to prevent the birds from flying into the glass. It seemed to deter birds on the panels the decals were on. Without decals on the few that had none, we had several incidents of birds flying into the glass. So am preparing for summer as soon as the weather permits the decals will go on the remaining few.

Warmth? What do you mean by "warmth"?
There were two big disappointments with these products. This and the butterfly stickers. First of all they have to be replaced every few months. There is no mention of this in the ad. Second, they just don't work. We seemed to have more birds striking the windows instead of less. We removed our old stickers in favour of these and that was a mistake. I asked for a refund for both of them. I got one answer back on the maple leaves and was told not to return them and got a refund. The butterflies on the other hand had to be returned before a refund was processe. But, in my opinion, in our situation they were not only useless but were dangerous to the birds. I would not recommend them.
