If you are going to fit a standard plastic flange don’t bother as this will no doubt fail after a few years . Pay the extra few quid and save yourselves a lot of hassle as this a good quality product that will last you years and years, I only wished I had put this in when I first installed my shower trap as now I have to put in a new kitchen ceiling and all of the hassle that goes with it . Brass metal chrome finish will last . Easy to fit and comes with a plastic wrench cap that helps you tighten it . Would recommend using some plumbers mate putty before tightening the flange down to give it a water tight seal.

Pipe thread cut not square to the pipe exit? So very difficult to line up and thread existing pipe work. Would have sent it back but we were desperate to get the job finished. The item it self is of good quality material and would be well worth the money if things lined up properly.

It's not cheap but believe me when I say that you will fit this item and not worry that it is going to fail. I have fitted many different makes over the years and you get what you pay for. I only use McAlpine products now as I know that they are built to last and designed with attention to detail.

Bought a plastic one first off, then discovered this one on Amazon, made of brass also a lot easier to install,And only £1 more, but far superior quality, don’t buy plastic buy this one.

Had this item fitted to our shower to replace a similar item that was chrome coated plastic but had corroded probably because the fitter had not used neutral ph silicone sealant.The new fitting had chrome over brass for the same part and neutral silicone sealant was used.

After working my way through 2 plastic version of the chrome type (one within 2 months) this is perfect, if more expensive. But it will be worth it as it has already lasted longer the others and still looks good.

I bought this trap to replace an identical trap that had a plastic chrome effect finish where the chrome had peeled off. This trap has a chrome plated brass drain and is well worth the extra money. An added bonus was that I only had to remove the plastic drain, clean around tray hole and fit the brass drain. Job done in no time. Hopefully the chrome plating on this one will last longer than the plastic one.

It isn't worth skimping on cheap copies that may not fit UK white plastic waste fittings.That said, expect to go to the builders merchants for a adaptor fitting as McAlpine are only compatible with McAlpine.But still worth buying this.
