About Swagman "Ride, paddle, explore: seek your adventure" That philosophy was the intention of founders Jim and Jan Morris who saw an opportunity to create a better way to transport your bike back in the early 90’s. Swagman was one of the first companies worldwide to design and market a hitch style bike rack. Over the years, that small bike rack company based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia grew to include numerous other ground breaking designs in the North American Bicycle, RV and Automobile markets.

Company confirmed manufacturing error – do not buy!
The clasp that holds the basket shut is located in exactly the same square as the tab from the base, which sticks up when the basket is folded. Because they line up exactly, the tab prevents the clip from closing.I phoned customer service at Swagman and spoke to them. They got a few baskets from their warehouse and experimented, and called me back to agree that it was a serious manufacturing error and they had no idea how it had not been found previously.Their suggestion was to use metal working tools to remove the clip and put it back on in a different location, but I don’t feel that it will be sturdy if I do this at home. I will return it and buy one that is manufactured properly. Do not buy!

Produkt selber ok.

Well built and sturdy basked that folds away
Well built and quite sturdy. Comes with metal "R" shaped brackets and very heavy duty nylon zip ties. The set of instructions for mounting the basket on the rear bike rack had large diagrams showing where to place the brackets. Getting the bolt through the holes in the brackets was finicky and took a fair bit longer than expected but the basket is nice and secure on the rack. Folding the basket and placing the latch takes a bit of wiggling but over all I am very please with the purchase.

Some things awkward, but otherwise a great buy
The fittings were strong and very difficult/awkward to bend when installing (just so the bolt could be inserted & fastened). The catch to hold the basket closed (when not in use) is also inadequate - you need a lot of strength to secure it in place each time. Otherwise it is very useful - I plan to get a second for the other side.

Buena
Es buena, me gusta mucho la posibilidad de doblarla cuando no la uso. El único problema que tuve es que los aros que envían para colocarla no fueron lo suficientemente grandes para mi portabultos.

Pretty well as advertised
The clip that holds it folded in isnt too good - could be a better design somehow

below expectations
it didn't fit the purpose I bought them for. I wanted to return them both but figure I will eventually find a use for them

OK for Mechanically Inclined...
I chose this basket because the bottom panel is made of finer mesh (more fine than side panels). The basket itself is pretty good, but there are 3 things I dislike:(1) Mounting brackets are not made for universal fit, I ended up using my own cable ties in addition to included cable ties for installation. Since cable ties weaken over time, I probably need to replace them annually.(2) I read all the negative reviews about latches (both stowed and deployed) not aligned properly to function. It took me (a mechanical engineer) 30 minutes to figure out how to properly align, stow, and deploy these latches. The process is harder than stowing and deploying a satellite solar panels.(3) Even knowing the proper sequence for stowing/deploying, it still takes time to do it right (around 30 sec), and that makes it not user-friendly.Ultimately, I don't recommend it to others unless you are mechanically inclined.

Won't latch, but otherwise perfect
I concur with the other reviewer who said that the latch for holding the basket shut in the folded position is blocked by the lip of the base in folded position. I'm not sure how they think it is supposed to work. But for my purposes that won't matter.I installed this basket on the side of a folding recumbent tricycle because standard pannier bags would not fit properly on my rack. The metal attachments that came with this basket also wouldn't fit, but it came with three zip ties (two thick and one thinner) which worked perfectly for installation. It took mere minutes to put it on.For my purposes, being able to hold a discarded jacket, lunch bag, or garage sale treasures found on cycle rides, this basket works perfectly.

Latch works fine if you use it correctly
For those who complain the bottom hook is in the way of the closing latch, all you have to do is push the bottom piece down a little to have it clear the latch. There is enough play to get it out of the way.

Folds flat, no rattle, huge baskets, sturdy, exactly what I wanted for bigger trips to grocer
The baskets are good and well constructed. It did take me about 40 minutes to install them and having access to my entire toolkit was helpful as I had to bend-out the mounting flanges to get them over the rack and the basket and then had to squeeze the flanges back into alignment to get them bolted-on. I used a bunch of hand tools, allen keys, 1/4 driver, etc to mount them. The zip ties are good quality, very thick. The baskets are big enough to hold two standard shopping bags (paper kind). My insulated shopping bags fit right in them. Good purchase!

so far it seems fine and sturdy
It claims to have "easy to install hardware", but all that was, was a very, very insecure piece of metal that is supposed to hook onto the rear rack on the bike, but it didn't fit on my bike's rack at all. Had to secure with zip ties.Other than that, so far it seems fine and sturdy, that I'm not worried about putting items into it. Just wish it came with more secure ways to mount it to the bike.

Nice baskets, awful mounting hardware.
The baskets work fine but a 4th grader could have designed the mounting system better. DO NOT even bother using the brackets or lousy screws they give you. Go to the hardware store and buy some small hose clamps. I assembled my entire bike quicker than it took to mount these 2 baskets. They give you nylon ties in case the brackets don't wotk. Are you kidding me?

Perfect size. Looks Great.
Works really well. Perfect fits a trader joes / moms / etc paper bag. Any smaller basket wouldn't have fit it. The snap holds it tight so it doesn't rattle at all. Fit to the ibera back rack great.

Item is Very functional
I liked the fact that the basket was foldable. Saves a lot of space while storing the bike. Doesnt hold a full weeks' groceries, but easily holds a days' worth.
