Fantastic Training Aide.
Fantastic little book. I had the old one when I was a cadet and I'm going through training now. So I bought this updated one, to go with the times. There could be more to it, as is pointed out in other reviews. But if you add too much, you sacrifice its "POCKET bookishness". All the basics plus a few extras. Very useful and easy to carry round about for quick reference.

useful resource
This is a very useful resource for new soldiers, it has a lot of useful information and tips. Some of this will be covered in training but its useful to have the key points in a small book. However, there are some areas where it seems to give less than useful information whilst missing the useful stuff. For instance in the drill section it says which foot commands are given on but does not say how to carry out the commands. Also the abbreviations in the back - the pages have been put in the wrong way around, so the alphabetical order jumps around.

A must buy
Extremely useful and informative. With no knowledge base to work off of, this got me up to speed pretty quickly on basics, and set good foundations for future learning. I would (and have) recommend it to anyone joining.

information for potential recruits
This book covers pretty much every subject you will encounter during phase one training. It's a brilliant read if you are joining the army.I felt it went into too much depth in the sniper chapter, which personally I feel could of been missed out and replaced by more information on another more recruit focused subject. All in all an excellent publication, written in plain English by genuine experts in their field.

Soldiers friend.
I bought this book after reading a review on an army net, the review was excellent and indeed the book was true to form. I bought it for my grandson to take with him to Afghanistan, he is delighted with it and his mates were impressed also.

Subject matter great but full of spelling & grammar mistakes.
A fantastic book in terms of subject matter. The only downside being that it is literally crammed with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in even simple sentences. It clearly required better proof reading before being published. If you can look past that, it is a great book.

good solid base
mid way through my phase 1 training I purchased this book to see if I could learn more bout what we are taught however now in phase 2 I find it a useful reminder of the basics and I am passing it on for a while to a friend about to commence training as a preperation of what to expect to learn
