The hook and backing plate to the vent louvers is of adequate size so as not to overlap too far over fixed surfaces. This fixes the louver operation in one direction while still allowing back up louvers to operate.Some units have bigger more massive backing plates which then deform the front louvers and prevent back louvers from moving.

Perfect option for holding my phone and charging

I decided to try this mount despite the few reviews and I promise you, it does not work. I thought it was innovative that they gave you a USB-C cable with a USB- A adapter tip. When I mount my phone on the charger, it shows it's charging and then it stops and charges again and stops. I tried using my own USB-C cable and same result. Defective. I'll be returning

I'm using this to mount a popsocket phone holder on my iPhone 12 Pro. I love that this allows me to use the holder only as needed. I've tried it with both the Apple-branded silicone and leather cases and the magnetic hold is strong enough that I don't worry about it coming off. While the magnetic adhesion is as good as Apple's official MagSafe charging puck, there are limits. For example, if I really hit the phone hard against something (like a wall corner or table edge), there is a chance the phone will be dislodged from this magnetic base. So do not rely on this for perfect security. However, I like the tradeoff in security for the modularity this offers and it is more than adequate when using the Popsocket in a handhold position (to keep the phone from slipping out of your grip).Note, as with many MagSafe connectors, the disk will leave a faint depression on the surface of the leather case (this is also true of Apple's own official MagSafe charging puck). I do appreciate that this base has an annular plastic sticker on the mating surface that helps prevent color transfer to the leather (I have a light colored case).My only suggestion for improvement would be a few more colors than the matte black and silver options currently offered.

I've been testing the most recent product replacement off and on for a couple of weeks now and this one seems to be a bit more consistent in its charging performance. Only time will tell if this one holds up better than the others they've sent. Given the inappropriate pressure to update my rating and the previous difficulties with inconsistent product performance, my rating will stand. Your milage may vary in customer and product experience.First off, I really wanted to like this mount, as there are a lot of positives; simple design, good mounting options, solid grip with a strong magnet, all for a decent price... however, the charging is the opposite. When it works, its great...until it doesn't work. So if you're needing to charge while on the go and you're not paying attention, this mount will just stop charging (sometimes) and leave you without juice in your device. 9/10 for the solidity of the mount, 2/10 reliability for the charger. I even gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried several different USB-C cords to troubleshoot. The supplied one is not great, and upgrading to a higher quality cable seems to help, but again, still random when the charging decides to crap out, with no discernible rhyme or reason. Most of the time, removing the phone for a sec and remounting with the magnet will kick start charging again, other times unplugging everything and reconnecting fixes it.

Einleitung:Geflucht habe ich, nicht über dieses MagSafe Magnet (mehr ist es ja genau genommen nicht) sondern über das DJO Osmo Mobile 4 Gimbal. Dieses kann das Handy magnetisch halten zumindest wenn man einen kleinen Ring auf das Telefon oder die Hülle klebt - geht nur leider beim iPhone 12 nicht wirklich.Am Telefon selbst verliert man dadurch die MagSafe-Fähigkeit und selbst wenn einem das egal sein sollte kommt es sehr häufig Fehlermeldungen in der Software oder der Gimbal nickt ständig auf und ab.Mit Halteklammer direkt am Gerät geht es auch nicht wirklich weil das iPhone kantig und nicht abgerundet ist.Kurzum: geht nicht wirklich sauber und schön.Bis ich auf diese MagSafe kompatible Platte gestoßen bin.Die Platte hält magnetisch ganz wunderbar und stark genug am iPhone. Ohne Abdrücke, Kratzer etc.An der Platte befestigt habe ich den Halterungsring vom Gimbal (per mitgelieferten Klebeplättchen).Alles passt so ganz hervorragend zusammen.Die MagSafe Platte kann am Gimbal bleiben (hält dort ebenfalls bombenfest) und das iPhone flutscht einfach nur so dran und kann ohne Probleme wieder entfernt werden.Klasse!
