Mamouna by Bryan Ferry

Ferry delivers again.
Every time I listen to this c.d. I say "God. I love this!!" Did you ever want to consume something so it's a part of you? Or wrap yourself in it? Or swim in it? Such an elegant crooner. So suave, smooth and cool. Bryan just oozes with sensuality and swankiness.

music for a mid-life crisis
Bryan Ferry at his most depressed and most elegant. The slick production draws only a thin veil across the deep despair that runs through this album. It's a tone poem in melancholia. Didn't really get it until after I passed 40, but now I just love it.

Lots of great well done songs as only Bryan Ferry seems to be able to create. Despite several listenings, I never grow tired of this CD, always picking up something new. Listen to this in a dark room @ medium to loud volume on an audiophile system.

Good music, decent value.
Good music, decent value. Burned on a CD-R. Materials were not great. Not available on Apple iTunes and Apple Music right now. Ripped and uploaded nicely with iTunes Match service.

Overall decent album of original Ferry work
There's no way I would put this album on the same level as other albums like Bete Noire or Boys and Girls. Still, if you're a fan you really need to have this album, there's no question about that.Mamouna is overall quieter than other Ferry works. If you're not in a hardcore Bryan Ferry mood you might not warm up to it very well for this reason. I'm not saying this as a knock against the music but more as a warning so that people are prepared for a quiet subtle album and not something in your face and upbeat.Still, there are a few absolute classics on here, the best of which coming at the end. "Wildcat Days" is just a spectacular song. It has a very unique feel and sound. Other standouts are the title track and "Don't Want To Know". Other than that there are some pretty worthwhile moments scattered about. If you're a Bryan Ferry fan you just have to have this regardless. It's an entire album of original work. You're bound to enjoy something. If you're not a fan defintely check out Bete Noire, Boys And Girls, or Avalon before you get this.

I CAN UNDERSTAND
why some here don't like this. It doesn't bowl you over. The songs are subtle.I was struck by Ferry's maturity. The guy was good to start with. He's now an expert at mixing and arranging music. The arrangements are precise and spatial within a transparent mix. To enjoy it you are going to have to pay attention. It's not background music to rock out on.I just went on a long auto trip with probably 150 CDs and this was one of the standouts.

music
I watched the movie The Walker and a song that was playing was from Bryan Ferry. I did some research and the song I liked was on this CD. I ended up enjoying this whole CD. Bryan Ferry is good. I didn't really know much about his work but after hearing this - I realized I had missed something. I'm glad I own it now.

GREAT!!!
Originally ordered it for the song "Which Way to Turn" and found that the other tracks are just as good! The perfect CD for relaxing--Enjoyed Brian Ferry many years ago and was happy to "rediscover" him. WONDERFUL!!!
