I did not weigh this, but is seems like a generous amount. There was quite a bit of VM and sand in mine. A wide range of fiber lengths. I would suspect that it's best for felting in my case. none-the-less, I would consider purchasing again for the price. I've washed it after handpicking most of the VM. Looks nice and fluffy for carding. I'm going to try and spin it after making it into roving. I don't mind the washing, it's all part of the magic of wool, you never really know what you've got until you prepare it. Goodluck
