Excellent product with great customer support. Very well made product that allows you to simply approach the electric fence and it starts to tell you that it is energized by beeping and showing a flashing light. As you touch the probe to the positive fence wire the bright readout starts to indicate either the voltage (in thousands of volts) or the current (amps). The instructions say to get the best rests simply hold the probe to the positive wire with one hand and put the other hand on ground which is easy for me since my posts are metal. Honestly I have not seen any difference, but suspect that is because I have a very short (less than 400 feet) electric fence with no weeds creating ground paths. I have the older model with a motion sensor built in that when tapped on the side of the unit will change the readings from current to voltage. My unit does not have the fault finder function, but no problem since when I have a problem, I simply go down the line measuring voltage and find the spot where it drops noticeably and fix the issue.I was concerned originally that I always got a current reading of 0.00 amps. Looking at my fence energizer instructions and a message to the manufacturer of this probe, I concluded that my short fence, and little to no ground leaks, produce a reading of 0.00 amps, but the fence works great since once an animal hits the positive wire and provides the path to ground, there is obviously a solid reaction! Just for reference for you, even though it reads 0.00 amps, my solar charged battery powered fence energizer puts out 5,560 volts (probes reads 5.56 kV).The memory function is useful so that I can see the previous reading of voltage and current and compare to what I am about to currently read so that I can see if there is any decline in either reading and take appropriate action to rectify.I would highly recommend this product as being far superior to to the products which indicate approximate voltage by simply lighting up a series of LEDs that are so faint that you can only read it a night. This product gives you accurate and precise readings of both voltage and current.

As an electrical engineer I was very impressed with this device design and construction. As a horse owner that depends on electric fences for containment and animal control, I was very pleased with the ease of use, accuracy, and especially the current measurement function. This clever design not only senses the current, but also the direction of the current flow. It works equally well on solid wire, rope/wire, and tape.I also found the simultaneous measurement functionality useful - it doesn't matter what setting it is on, it's measuring voltage, current, and fault direction at the same time, and just by holding the tip and base it reads out each measurement.Even the on/off design is well thought out - a hard press of the waterproof switch turns the unit on and off while a soft press changes the readout to voltage/current/fault find. It has an aggressive power saving function that puts the unit in ultra low power mode automatically after short time when it doesn't receive a pulse. Just bringing it near an active fence automatically turns it back on which is convenient when surveying the fences. I have to admit, I am seldom as impressed with an electronic design as much as I am with this excellent device.
