My boyfriend has a full-blown ice fishing obsession, he sat in a friends chair, and kept hinting about how much he wanted one. As much as he doesn't need anymore ice fishing gear (My garage is an Annex for Bass Pro Shops), I took the hint and bought it for him. Honestly, itโs been a total game-changer for reasons I you may not even expect. The real test for this stool wasn't the ice; it was the accessibility. My boyfriend has very limited use of his right arm (can't extend his elbow and can not fully open his hand), and most outdoor gear is designed like a Rubik's Cubeโfrustrating and requiring two fully functional hands to wrestle into submission. This stool is different. Itโs light enough that he can carry it over his shoulder independently using the strap. Because the tripod legs just pivot out, he can set it up with one-handed ease without needing a degree in engineering. He can manage entirely on his own. Most stools are just "perches" that leave you slouching. This one actually supports his back, and I don't have to listen to the whining (as much) about how sore he is from sitting on the ice so long (or carrying and setting up, etc). The tri-leg design is inherently stable on uneven, frozen ground. It hasn't tipped once, which provides a lot of peace of mind considering we chose to spend our money on ice fishing gear instead of life insurance (Totally kidding guys ๐คฃ) It folds down into a slim profile that stays out of the way, or in his case gives him more room for more ice fishing gear. He now thinks he is the "King of the Lake" on his throne while everyone else is shivering on upturned buckets. It was a great purchase and very affordable.

Like that it comes with a Velcro to close and strap to carry. Sturdy back and very comfy. Drink holder is a nice touch as well.

But there are better ones. I have an Alps and a Red Head (bass pro) seat that use thicker tubing. The Alps is of course more expensive but everything about it is better from the stitching to the tubing. The cloth and stitching on the Red Head is about on par with this one but it tubing is thicker. The Red Head is less money before shipping. If I need another, Iโll get another Head seat.

I bought this chair for fishing. I wanted something that was easy to sit down in and to get up from. I wanted it designed so that the back would not interfere with my casting. This chair fit the bill. It's high quality and well made. It doesn't have a carrying bag but doesn't need one. It has a Velcro strap that keeps it closed for carrying and it has an attached strap so you can sling it over your shoulder. Weights less then 4 pounds. I highly recommend it.
