Good value, but quite loud
It's one of the cheapest 3 TB drives on the market, and does its job well. It's big, and the speed is pretty standard. If you just want something to cram all your files on, this works perfectly, especially if complemented with an SSD for your most used programs and games. The only downside is that it's louder than any other hard drive I've had (which, to be fair, isn't that many) - I'd say it's about three or four times as loud as a WD Blue, for reference. Even through headphones (if nothing's playing), you'll definitely notice when the drive is reading or writing. However, I would still say it's worth it. It's not annoying, although it does take some getting used to, because at first you might think the drive is dying or something. As a reference, I bought this 17 months ago for £61.95. In that time, it has been powered on for 9,952 hours. It's still going strong with no SMART errors or weird behaviour. With sequential reads of 142 mb/s and sequential writes of 138.9 mb/s (at 62% full), it's a pretty standard speed - almost identical to my 1 TB WD Blue.

Solid HDD but too noisy
Easy to set up, just booted from Windows 7 install media and restored my system image from my current 1TB HDD and after a few hours it booted up fine. However the noise level is just too high for me as I sleep in the same room as my PC. The HDD I had in my PC was the same model Toshiba as this new drive but 1TB, that one is almost silent. Both drives say made in China by Toshiba and the model numbers are the same except for a 1 or a 2 respectively, the old one has a Jan 2014 date and the new one Nov 2018.Maybe its just this particular drive or the 2TB are just louder, I bought a Seagate Barracuda as well to try and the noise level from that is much better but it seems it 'may' not be as robust as its lighter, so reluctantly I went with the Seagate. The 1TB Toshiba I had has been so reliable I wanted to use Toshiba again but the noise is just too much.

Perfect replacement
When old drive began to fail needed a replacement fast. This arrived fast and well wrapped to prevent damage. Installed the very night I got it and no issues loading backup onto it.

Brillian Customer Service
Why do I give five stars to a product that failed? I bought two of these drives to match the one in my computer. Big mistake, I should have bought three to make the total up to four. Good lesson, always have an even number of the same drives in your computer. The reason why I am giving this five starts is because the customer service at Amazon was first class. Having used one drive from my operating system and programs and the second as a clone of that drive (use Clone Drive to do you cloning), I used the third drive as a storage facility. Having spent months loading it up with work and other files it got the dreaded click of death. Yep, it developed a fault and the clicking was due to the sensor not being able read the data. Don't be alarmed, this can happen to any machine at any time. Had I followed the even number of drives rule, I would have had this drive cloned as well and of course no data loss. MY FAULT. The important thing is that when I contacted the brilliant people in Amazons customer care department, they were very helpful and gave me an immediate refund and sent me a returns label via email link. What more can a customer ask for? Once I get the refund into my bank account, I will buy two more of these hard drives and stick to my own advice as outlined above.

Great hard disks in a RAID pair until one failed
I bought two of these and set them up in a RAID 0 formation in a new build machine as data storage. They do what they are supposed to, seem very quick. Good price as well.Oops.. 8 days after installation one of the drives started clicking and failed. Fortunately the operating system (Windows 7-64) is on a separate SSD. I switched off and let the box fully cool down. Switched on again and all was fine for a while, long enough to make sure I had a complete backup. Then more clicks and failure. This is the bathtub probability distribution in action: hard drives either have a tiny fault and fail in the first few weeks or they last for years.I ordered a replacement drive (same model) through Amazon yesterday and it came today and I've swapped out the defective one for return to Amazon. The new one is working well so far and I'm just restoring files to it. The occasional failure is just bad luck and it could happen to any hard drive so I'm not going to mark it down. Four stars.

Still going strong after 7 years continuous operation
I purchased this drive (DT01ACA200 2TB) in 2014 and it has been in use ever since, that's 7 years, and (touch wood) still going strong. Thought I would write a review as to the longevity. I've been using it for some quite I/O intensive tasks - video and photo editing, and I hardly ever turn off my PC. Very pleased with this purchase, as with all hard drives, your mileage may vary.

No complaints
Barely audible even sitting in my external reader on top of my desktop computer (although it's possible it's just emitting a steady whine above my hearing level, cos I can hear it spin down and up). I'm currently using it as a backup drive, and have written a mere 252GB to it so far according to stats, but it's performed that job well so far in the 9 months I've had it. It's due to shortly be replaced by a 3TB drive, since the sweet point has moved and in today's money I can buy that for twice the price of this, yet get three times the capacity, but I may still pull it into service to replace the old 320GB drive currently installed inside my desktop machine.I've not been able to test how fast it is yet, since I have it in an enclosure connected to a USB2 port, but it's speedy enough for me. It also runs quite cool - I could only measure a 12 degree increase above ambient after it was on for a couple of hours copying 88GB of data to it just now, and that's inside the small plastic box that is my dustproof HDD caddy with no ventilation, which impressed me.
