Lots of fun and camp to be had
strait jacket certainly isnβt winning any awards for stellar story or production value, but dedicated performances and upbeat energy goes a long way in selling a camp old time x x x watch n have fun

Heady performances from Joan and Diane.
This is actually an Italian release from Sinister Film and, like other William Castle films from this company, very well presented on DVD. Released from prison, for the axe-murder of a former lover, Lucy, played by Joan Crawford returns to live with her daughter, Diane Baker. Before long, people are being dispatched by an axe, in one very creepy scene in a wardrobe. Guess who's the main suspect? Like all of William Castle's films, you get full value in the suspense stakes. Not to the standard of Hitchcock, but close enough. There's a sort of twist ending, that might be obvious to some early on, and a nice touch of humour from the Columbia Lady right at the end.Acting honours are shared between Ms Crawford and Miss Baker, with Diane actually stealing the last section completely. There is a trailer, and an excellent presentation from Luigi Cozzi. Would play great at a Halloween party, or your very own Midnight Movie.

Schlock, horror!
'Strait Jacket' - yes, it's possibly the campest horror film ever made. Yes, Joan Crawford gives a wonderfully OTT Grande Dame Guignol performance. Yes - it's VERY entertaining! The first ten minutes of the film are so deliciously over-the-top that you know only William Castle could have made this film (with his tongue firmly in his cheek)! This Spanish DVD has a menu that is very easy to navigate and, overall, the print is very good. Crisp contrast, with only the odd noticeable speck or flicker. Audio is good, with no need to turn it up to maximum volume. This one's a keeper. Joan - fetch me an axe!

A personal favourite
While this will always be regarded as one of her worst and embarrassing films when compared to many of her previous oscar worthy performances, I actually really like it. Joan wasn't getting many offers at the time but this came up and she did not disappoint! If you don't judge this too seriously then you'll enjoy!
