The A-Team: Series 1-5 [Blu-ray]

A solid entertaining show no matter what format it's on
In the first episode Mexican Slayride at 1:14:10 I think it is. Pause it. You will see a smudge/smear like mark on screen on the bottom left corner. It's right on top of the jeep. Never seen this before in any Blu-ray transfer of older footage from any movie or show. This doesn't take away any of the entertainment to be found in that episode. Just thought I'd point it out.The humour to be found in this show is quality. It never makes you cringe. You'll see some of the writing shine in the first two episodes alone. A lot of it is down to Murdock and B.A dealing with each other. But some funny moments involve Face and/or Hannibal as well.Hannibal S1E3 "You must be the guy heading at Mach 1 to a pine box"Amy Amanda Allen isn't too bad on the show. The original female member of the team. She helps the guys out now and them with her contacts and once or twice through being a woman. Which she somehow grudges. That's how the cookie crumbles wee hen. Each member of the team uses what they've got to get to the end goal. Each member pulls their weight. I much prefer Tawnia Baker though. That woman is sex on legs. She was the replacement for Amy Amanda Allen aka Triple A. Tawnia looked like a lady where as Triple A looked more like a Tomboy. But since it was more or less a lads show both ladies were doomed. They didn't last long. They weren't killed off. Just written out. It's like Dirk Benedict (Face man) said one time that The A Team was the last true man's show. Fist fights. Car chases. Car crashes. Guns being shot off in every direction. More fist fights. There was no real need for a female member of the team really. They ruined Tour of Duty by including one to the squad. Even the cast and crew of that show admitted that was what doomed the show. It's a bit steep in the price I paid £90 for the Blu-ray set. I paid this because it's one of my favourite shows of all time. The escapism on offer is excellent. I refused to pay it's initial price of like £145 or something like that. No way. What you get is a nice crisp picture. Good sound as well. The picture isn't like what you'd see on John Wick. So don't get too excited. It's very good considering how old this show is. I have Miami Vice and now this show on Blu-ray. I just need MacGyver Knight Rider Quantum Leap and Airwolf and I'm good.

The A Team 22 Disc Blu Ray from Fabulous Films contains completely *Uncut* episodes.
I am very pleased with this purchase. It currently retails @ £75, which I feel is fair for a 22 disc Blu Ray set.I placed the order on Wednesday 6th May 2020 and it arrived on Sunday 10th May 2020.To those who are still undecided about buying this.....let me throw in a few relevant and up to date details.Season 2 Disc 2 contains When You Comin' Back, Range Rider ? in ****UNCUT*** form, and the running time is 1 hour and 35 minutes . Fabulous Films have corrected errors that marred the initial run of 500 sets.My observation is the same for the season 3 episode The Bend In The River, and likewise for Judgement Day, which opens Season 4.So you can now buy this product with confidence.

My kids love it as much as I did back in the 80s
They can see its a bit cheesy and repetitive but I mix it up with other classics from the era so they don't get bored of them and they are always happy when I put one on. Kids between 7 and 12.

Original and still the best, warning poor blu ray
I loved the A team, never seen the movie and never would, the reason, The A Team was very successful because of its format. Why alter it ?Why bring it up to date, you do not need to.You could just have a movie set in the eighties following the tv show, then I would watch it.I would not recommend this set though as like the hulk, huge parts of episodes are not blu ray

Big Improvement over dvd - Missing extras + 16:9 option
I don't pretend to be a Blu-ray expert. However, the episodes are presented in original 4:3 format. The picture/sound quality is a big improvement over the dvds. I have not had a chance to check the entire discs for extras but at first glance little goodies such as bloopers are missing from this collection. Still as I am a massive A-Team fan I still rate this collection at 5*

An Iconic Show Slightly Let Down By An Inconsistent HD Transfer…
(Standard Blu Ray Box Set Edition)As your average TV-addicted 80’s child ‘The A-Team’ was a cherished staple of those seemingly carefree, halcyon days of my youth. Now, many years older (though certainly not wiser) this reviewer still finds himself thoroughly entertained by a show that so deftly combined four well crafted characters into an irresistible, winning formula. Augmented by copious on-screen chemistry, outlandish action, outrageous stunts, just the right amount of comedy and Mr T’s legendary mohawk ‘The A-Team’ couldn’t fail. Little wonder then that it proved to be an international ratings smash and a merchandiser’s dream for most of its five season run.Despite the show’s enduring popularity however the inevitable leap to High Definition is regrettably sullied by a few issues. Indeed, this underwhelming Blu-Ray release can be frustratingly inconsistent at times. Whilst certain episodes and scenes ably demonstrate the enhanced visual clarity that HD provides others inexplicably appear devoid of improvement. Nowhere is this intermittent quality more apparent than amongst the show’s many nighttime/minimally lit scenes. In certain instances deep black tones pleasingly betray little to no visual noise yet others are practically drowning in it! The result is an often uneven viewing experience exacerbated further on occasion by visuals so soft as to be practically indistinguishable from DVD quality.Ostensibly these criticisms might seem overly harsh considering the sizeable financial investment required to professionally convert dozens of TV episodes into HD (the A-Team boasts a whopping 98 episodes!). Nevertheless the set’s box declares the show ‘fully restored’ which is a highly contentious claim considering that many episodes look merely upscaled, at best. Indeed, I’m not sure how Universal/Fabulous (the rights holders and U.K. licensee respectively) can legitimately claim ‘fully restored’ when some early episodes retain prominent yellow/orange stains on the original film prints! Surely these distracting artefacts would’ve been removed during any genuine restoration effort?Admittedly some might attribute the technical shortcomings described above to unrealistic consumer expectations. Yet it’s worth noting that another iconic Universal-owned/Fabulous-released 80’s show with a comparable number of episodes has fared far better in its HD upgrade. Indeed, the Blu-Ray set for ‘Knight Rider’ is visually far superior to the often lacklustre ‘A-Team exhibiting consistent colours, minimal print damage and negligible noise in dimly lit environments. This striking if unflattering comparison begs the obvious question then: if Knight Rider, with 90 episodes, can seemingly be afforded proper restorative care then why not the 98 episode ‘A-Team?Alas, that pertinent question will likely remain unanswered…CONCLUSION:In some regards ‘The A-Team’ has never looked better yet in others there is demonstrably still much room for improvement. Still, whilst the prospects of a further 4K upgrade are somewhat slim (not least because the costs involved would be even more prohibitive than HD) the Blu Ray edition of this iconic show is your best bet.Recommended - albeit with some reservations!

Great boxset
I'm only about halfway through the series, but every disk has worked so far. None are damaged. We loved A-Team when I was a kid, so it has been nice to rewatch the show.

Top. Super Bild und Ton und ENDLICH alle original Musiktitel der Fernsehausstrahlungen in den Folgen zu hören. Bei den DVDs wurden rechtetechnisch ja viele Titel durch Fahrstuhlmusik ersetzt. Absolut empfehlenswert!
