I have an apple tree in my backyard and I constantly have to deal with apples that have fallen to the ground. I bought a similar tool (different brand) about five years ago and this year the handle finally snapped off so I needed to get a replacement. I was a little worried this one might not pick up something as large as an apple (it lists crab apples in the things it picks up but not regular ones) but I saw some reviewer mention using it for that so I decided to give it a shot.I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this over the old "apple broom" tool I had. First off, not only does it work for picking up apples, it works *really* good. With my old tool I was constantly struggling with the apples either not getting picked up without rolling over them 20 times or having them fall out of the cage. Not a problem with this. A few apples were still difficult to pick up (just due to the nature of where they were sitting or if they were rotting) but overall not only did this pick up the apples MUCH easier, they all stayed inside the cage no problem.Another thing I need to mention is the grip on the handle. I didn't realize until using this how much of a big deal that would be. It makes holding this SO much easier and more comfortable than my old one. It seems like such a minor thing but it was something I noticed immediately.The ability to empty the cage from the side is also amazing. With my old tool I had to pull the spokes apart to get the apples out (and in the process getting a bunch of rotten apple goo on my hands) and it was a serious pain. Being able to remove the side panel on this is so much better. I will say, this is one area where this tool is probably more intended for smaller things like nuts as the apples would sometimes get stuck due to their size. But with enough shaking and/or helping push the larger apples through, it still worked just fine. I'll take those few small issues over having to pull apart the spokes every time (and again, I don't knock the product for this since they don't claim it's made for stuff this big in the first place).I can't speak for sure on whether this one will last longer than my previous tool but it definitely *feels* more sturdy. The handle feels a bit thicker and stronger than the last one (it's definitely a bit wider in diameter). I at least get the impression that it's going to hold up fine.Overall, love this thing. Actually makes me glad my previous tool broke. This is going to be so much less tedious to use than that one. I highly recommend it.

I don't review many products but I had to rush here to gush about this thing. My yard is always covered in pinecones. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have a bunch of trees dropping them what feels like year-round. Plus, all the rain here makes them damp.I've been using my leafblower to gather the pinecones, and then a snow shovel to pick them up (along with the pounds of pine needles) and dump them in my yard waste bin. But that obliterates my topsoil every time I do it, making it harder for me to grow grass (and it's already hard under all these pine trees!).Many products are geared toward those picturesque, massive pinecones, but mine are too small - about 3/4" to 1" in diameter (see attached pictures). This grabbed them effortlessly - just align the wires with the pinecone and boom. Dumping it is easy too, just gotta shake it a few times.I cleared a 10x10 foot square that was pretty well covered in pinecones in 6 minutes, emptying the load twice. And left my topsoil intact! So it'd still take you a while to clear an acre, but it's a great tool for the average yard.

I used it to pick up gum balls and it does a pretty good job. But the handle could be longer. I’m 5’10” and I have the telescoping handle fully extended but it still hurts my back. I don’t know how anyone taller than me would be able to use it comfortably. Also, the cap on the end where you empty the contents is hard to open and close. I had to carry a putty knife with me to get the cap open. After a couple hours of use, I was able to close the cap with just my hands. Prior to that, I had to use the putty knife handle to tap the cap shut.But overall I am pleased with the product.

I'll have to admit I was skeptical when I purchased this to pick up pine cones, but the current method of leaning over or using a "grabber and bucket" just wasn't cutting it! This works amazingly well! Not only did it eliminate the need to drag a bucket around, but the amount of effort to pick up the pine cones dropped to the level of a causal stroll around the yard. Just roll over the cone and presto! Emptying is easy BUT the cones can jamb up due to the nature of pine cones. Some vigorous shaking or careful use of hands is generally required. The only minor issue with this product is that the screw on handle came apart between the screw fitting and the handle. It was "glued" together instead of being crimped on. A quick cleanout of the glue and a couple of taps with a hammer and center punch was able to make a crimp that corrected the problem. Extremely well made so I'm surprised they missed this detail!

We have 6 walnut trees and they litter our lawn every fall. This is usually a back-breaking job, however with this, NOT ANYMORE! The walnuts fit in the large one that we ordered. Our neighbours were asking to borrow it and likely many of them also purchased it. It was easy to use.. the only time-consuming part was emptying the basket, even then it wasn't that bad. Seriously it is the best yard product we have
