Oubliette: A Forgotten Little Place

As a fan of horror like Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, Ann Rice, Jack Ketchum, and I can be very particular. I like this book a whole lot and that is saying quite a lot. I don’t go for the easy scare or the ordinary horror story. Finding Oubliette was like discovering a whole new, untouched deserted island. It was awesome to read something that is so different than typical horror genre novels of today that have the same themes and subject matter. The themes in this book range from loyalty, heorism, isolation, madness, sheer terror, history to disgust. This is a real and raw read. This is’t an ordinary haunted castle ghost story, either. The author takes you into several different views of a place so evil and vile, you will feel like you are stuck in that place with the characters. There are parts that will simply baffle you, especially at first. Give it time though and read it through because it all makes sense in the end. Overall this is a powerful read with excellent writing. Bravo to this first time author and I am at the front of the line waiting for book 2.

I was SO happy to find this book in hardcopy! I read it online first but I love the heft and feel of an actual book. The story is amazing, especially for anyone who loves Historical Fiction and Horror/Thrillers as much as I do! I loved reading each characters story and following their threads throughout history to the amazing conclusion!! Perfection!

An Enjoyable JourneyI found this book very enjoyable and can’t wait to read the next installment. I wish there was more resolution at the end, but that is how I know there is another book; there has to be! Way to leave me hanging Vanta Black! Warped and funny – plus scary and suspenseful.

Honestly, I did not expect this to be so great. Once I got a few chapters in, I was hooked. A great read, well researched, will written and well edited. I'm surprised the book is not better known!

I was scared. I was on the edge of my seat. I laughed. And yes, I did cry. It was a rollercoaster and I loved every thrilling minute of it.I can’t believe how quiet the world is about this book. I mean, it is like a hidden gem. It is a master work of a thriller. I loved the characters and expecially rooted for the children as they fleed the castle. I also was in shock when Josette did what she did. And I even like Sebastian even though he is…well I can’t say. Read the book and you decide what you think of Sebastian for yourself.This book is worth the long read. It goes fast and you won’t be disappointed.
