“Fugitive: A Guide to Becoming a Pirate Queen” by author Jayde Russell continues the space opera saga started in book one, “Executive: A Guide to Becoming a Pirate Queen”, and once again the author gives us an immersive adventure that will have you turning the pages!I love all of the characters Jayde Russell has created. They are rich with personality and their actions, or reactions, fit just what you’d expect from that particular character. With one of the main characters, Thea, being a literal she devil, it isn’t surprising that we end up meeting a lot of very powerful gods and goddesses as we traverse several of the nine levels of hell. Thea wants to introduce Bryce to her family, and the head of the family is none other than Lilith!As with the first book, I am just tongue tied with Jayde’s writing style and imagination. I sincerely believe these books would make an awesome series akin to “Firefly” or a movie like “Guardians of the Galaxy”. There is the same sort of exciting action and the camaraderie in their odd ball found family is heartwarming.There’s lots of humor as well as impossible life threatening situations. I mean seriously, who would jump from one space ship onto another one while traveling faster than the speed of light? But Jayde makes it believable.You do need to read book one, “Executive” before tackling “Fugitive” as these are not stand-alone novels. This is not a clean, feel good, cozy. But it isn’t all dark and sinister either. It’s a lighthearted space adventure that will capture your imagination and make you feel like you’re part of the crew. There's a lot of action, and more characters to get to know as we continue to spend time with our characters from book 1. I love that it combines genres like SciFi and Fantasy but also Mythology in such interesting ways.It's fast paced, and fun to read. You feel for the characters and the obstacles they are trying to overcome, where it often seems they knock one down only for two more to pop up! But as always with our incredulous heroes, they have the spirit and the talent to work through it.I loved the found family vibes of the whole crew, and relationship between Bryce the Elven Mage, and Fallen Angel, Devil Woman, Thea.These are long reads, that are very well written - absolutely worth buying for such a low price.
