ERA 816-12 Window Lock for PVCU Windows - White

I have fitted ours on our front door to stop our toddler from opening it. It works great as unlike a chain, I doesn't allow any opening for little hands to get trapped in.The lock is not part of the latch so you have to physically attach it and remove it every time you need to use it, we have decided that it was not needed and filled the hole with one of the plastic plugs instead.Everything you need to attach it to UPVC or wooden door/window is included. Fitting was very easy with just two holes needing drilling on the UPVC frame (reinforced with a thin plate of steel), we used a normal metal drill bit that we had as part of a set - no special tools needed.The quality of the item is great, it feels solid and robust and the latch moves up and down smoothly. My only observation would be that the bag the product came in had an ERA sticker over the previous manufacturer which was not ERA and the instructions would suggest it wasn't made by them. Despite that, I am very pleased with the quality and would recommend.

I am super security conscious having cctv/ camera floodlights and a video doorbell attached to my home. I also have a padlock on my rear french doors.We are having a cat flap installed into one of our downstairs windows to allow our cats to access our rear garden whenever they want. We are currently having to keep keep getting up to open the door to allow our cats to go in and out as they please and its getting very annoying! In the summer it wasn't as bad as we could just leave the back door open when we was in but now that we are in the colder months it is just too cold to do that!Although we have a locking window handle to the window i realised that by having the cat flap installed it meant it would weaken this entry point for any would be burglars and I wanted to upgrade the security on the window to make it more difficult for anyone who attempts to break in. I bought 2 of these locks as I thought they would act as a visual deterrent, and if the attempted to break open the window by force would make the task that little bit more difficult!I am a novice diyer but found installing these pretty much straight forward. It took less than ten minutes. I marked where I needed to drill the holes used a has drill bit which was like cutting butter with a hot knife! I then simply screwed them onto the frame and voila job done in less than 10 minutes.Thankfully the 2 locks use the same key so it means that I can use just 1 key to open both locks rather than having to use both keys and finding I needed to swap the keys as I was using it in the wrong lock!The key is now safely hidden where it is easily accessible so that when I need to unlock them I'm not searching the house to find the keys! The other key has been safely put in my small digital safe for safe keeping if I should ever lose the key currently hidden for use!These are extremely easy to install and seem very heavy duty and sturdy! I feel safer knowing that I have not compromised on the window security!

This is an excellent product, its sturdy and provides the extra security I was seeking.

Bought these to give extra security to double glazed doors and windows on our property whilst on holiday or away from home for a few days. Easy to fix with just two screws, all that's needed is a pilot hole to get the screw started. Placed on top corners of doors and windows as I think this gives the best resistance to forced entry. Bought these as they look nicer than some others seen and are from a reputable manufacturer.

Great item and well made would buy again.

The lock is ok, but the key broke inside the lock in no time, making the all item useless.
