When pensioner Tom Parfitt (Michael Palin) stages a fall in his eerie Yorkshire home in order to escape into residential care, a chilling and macabre mystery unfolds, which challenges weary police detective Rob Fairholme (Mark Addy) and teenage care worker Hannah Ward (Jodie Comer) to risk everything they hold dear to unravel the truth. A traumatic murder investigation, a ghostly haunting and a coming-of-age tale rolled into one, Remember Me takes the audience from the windswept Scarborough coast to the tragic recesses of 20th Century history. Written by Gwyneth Hughes (Five Days, The Girl) and directed by Ashley Pearce (Downton Abbey, the critically acclaimed Accused: Tracie's Story), this three-part drama is a dark and unforgettable voyage into the unknown.

British, horror, BBC... Nuff said
Iv'e always said that BBC AND ITV should get more involved in making movies, because every movies that one of them has done, they've never gotten bad. I didn't even have to read anything about this movie before watching it but because 'Horror, British, BBC' came up I knew it was going to be good which it really is. And pretty creepy and jumpy too, seeing it's basically a film but split into 3 episodes which are about 1 - 1 1/2 I think long, it never gets boring. Plus it's the first that Iv'e seen in a film where it's an Indian ghost lady which was a nice change. The story of the 3 episodes continue after another of trying to find the mystery behind Scarbourough fair which is it's main plot of the whole film and what the connections are.People Who I know really didn't like the ending but I thought the ending was the perfect ending that they could have done because it's really different than other horrors. The film also doesn't hugely rely on the jump scared too because in all honesty I must have jumped about 2 times per episodes but there where a lot of times were it does get creepy. Finally the acting - The acting is really impressive, the people who does a fabulous job is the Indian ghost lady which she is really scary with there Indian cultured outfit and the main girl in it. I would only recommend this to people who wants a story and a confusing one at times and that doesn't purely rely on the scares. it's more about where is the presence that it would be behind the corner waiting. Love it! 5/5

M.R. James meets The Ring
There are some quite harsh reviews on this one, and I can accept that. There are also far too many plot spoilers, from what I've seen. I got this on the strength of Michael Palin and hesitated to watch it at first for fear it would be badly done. It is a three part series, and three main characters interact throughout: Palin, an elderly man who appears to be trying to get more care for himself from social services (this is given away by the box); a young lady who works at the nursing home he goes to; and a hapless policeman depressed by his broken family who begins to show sparks of life when he investigates a mysterious event at the nursing home.If you've read M.R. James, you may be aware of the BBC adaptations of his stories. Most of them, in my opinion, are absolutely dreadful. I did see one another reviewer mentioned that was indeed creepy, but to me this was a drama that James himself would have enjoyed with a wry chuckle (though some bad language would probably make him turn pale). The special effects were well done, and not over used, and Palin was great in a role unlike any I've seen him in. I would say if you like thoughtful horror stories with a bit of the occassional, violent turns, this is one great film. I don't really get scared by any movies I've seen in the last ten years, but I was almost scared by this one. The subtle horrors remind me of M.R. James and the Japanese (original) versions of The Ring movies.

Ultimately disappointing
Intermittently interesting, creepy in places (and where that happens it's very well done indeed) but the narrative is overly long. It could have been made in two episodes, not three. There was too much emphasis on the domestic issues affecting the teenage nurse/care worker character Hannah. The portrayal of the shortfalls of the social welfare system in the UK was too accurate for my liking. I've had enough first-hand 'customer' experience of that myself. I acknowledge that this is probably an overly subjective rather than objective review but I felt it cloaked the whole viewing experience and ultimately made for rather depressing viewing. I did eventually warm to Michael Palin's character, I liked the quality of the production which was as good as you might expect from the BBC. All the cast put in good performances. That said, this is supposed to be entertainment and I just didn't need the subliminal commentary, however accurately portrayed. Sorry BBC, but this just scrapes three stars for me.

I loved this drama. I thought the little boy Jamie Rooney-West who played 'Sean Ward' was a brilliant little actor too! I pre ordered and I got a refund of £2.27 when the release day came....bonus. Well packaged.I loved all the scenery. I thought the first episode was really scary, I was expecting the second episode to be the same but it wasn't, it was more unnerving!! The final episode was great. I kept thinking how cold that lake must of been in January/February and a 10 year old child acting in it, he certainly didn't shown that it was freezing on his face. Some funny moments that made me laugh out loud with Mark Addy and Tony Pits. I also loved the scene were Michael Palin had his hand and face hanging out of the car. Fantastic cast. I do think it could of been shown in two episodes and over consecutives nights. But hey I still bought the DVD!! You can't please everyone......so enjoy.

Actors did a great job in a mediocre film...
Many have said and I couldn't agree more - the acting was great but so many wonderful actors were under-used. Was excited to see Sheila Hancock in the cast but we only got a few minutes of her. Julia Sawalha was fabulous (as usual) but both she and Mark Addy felt like add-ons. Their characters really weren't even needed in the story line. The story line? Been there and done that - part one had some brilliant horror scenes but the whole movie waned by the end. There were a few loose ends but what really should've been explained is why Scarborough was SO important to all of them after hearing the song every 3 minutes I thought the place had some mystical meaning - if it did, it was never explained or not well enough for me to catch it.
