A book you won't be able to put down
I brought this for my daughter to read but started to read it myself and got so into it I couldn't put it down. The story is magical, emotional, heart-warming and you won't want it to end. A big recommendation.

Utterly magical
This story is both magical and realistic. A brilliant read for children, and for adults who remember a desperate desire for the world to hold more than just tedious reality. I couldn't put this down.

I believe
This book took me back to Roald Dahl and the magic in his novels. There was always the innocent, determined child, the grandparent, the ally, the evil family member, and the magical world of...well, in this case, Circus Mirandus.Micah Tuttle is that child, and his grandfather Ephraim, who has raised him his whole life and is his only surviving family member (aside from his cruel aunt), is now dying. Aunt Gertrude pretty much stomps into their lives, upsetting their entire home, in an effort to care for her dying brother and discipline Micah. Aunt Gertrude does not believe in magic, and in fact, hates the mere mention of the word. Grandpa Ephraim has raised Micah on magical stories of Circus Mirandus, stories that Micah has grown up with, memorized and held dear to his heart. Yet now, he finds he is unable of even seeing his grandpa due to his aunt's restrictions at home.Through underhanded ways, Micah is finally able to see his grandpa for a few minutes, in which he reveals to him that the stories were actually all true and he needs to find the Lightbender to honor the miracle that was promised to him when he was very young. Micah then makes it his mission to get his grandpa this miracle, and with the help of his non-believing friend Jenny, he goes on some wonderful adventures to attain it.This was a wonderful story, with so much innocence infused in it. It makes you want to believe. It makes you ache for a time when you still believed in Santa and the tooth-fairy...when you still believed in magic.Micah is a wonderful character, wise and brave beyond his years. His journey was heartwarming and heart-aching, and the characters he meets along the way all learn a lesson or two from this wonderful boy.A book that has definitely been underrated. I highly recommend it and recommend reading it to your children.

This is such an amazing book, full of magic and wonder
Wow! Just, Wow!I've just finished reading this, and now I've pulled my shattered emotions together I thought I'd review it quick while it's still fresh in my head. Though I think this is a book that will stay with me forever. This is such an amazing book, full of magic and wonder. There is much happiness, of new discoveries and new friendships but it is also tinged with sadness (I found myself crying near the end). Saying that, I was left at the end with such a feeling of hope and I absolutely loved the last line of the book. The descriptions of the circus reminded me of a younger version of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and Circus Mirandus has become another magical place that I wish I could visit. Also, the design of the book deserves wonderful praise. The cover is beautiful, as are the chapter headings. And the striped, sprayed edges are a lovely touch.(I won a copy of this book in a competition from the publishers - and I'm so glad I did!)

What a wonderful story. This really cheered me up whilst I was stuck on a North Devon cliff top in wind and rain for almost 48 hours!
