Saved recabling the house
This system solved a problem that I had after an incompetent electrician installed inadequate coax cables that would not support cable TV into the spare front room, even though he had used the correct cable for the main coax outlet.. Since I had no desire to rebuild the house to replace the cables, this system allowed me to use the cat 5 cabling that had also been installed so that the Virgin Media set-top box could be located under the stairs with the modem. It avoided drilling another hole in the outside wall of the house for a new coax, which was the alternative. This system is slightly slower in setting up programmes on Netflix than the direct Ethernet connection into the main television, but otherwise is entirely satisfactory in delivering 1080 quality for both Virgin Media and Netflix programming. As the specifications state, it is unlikely to be sufficient for 4k programming, but that is not a problem at the moment in the spare room.

Make sure you buy a sender and a receiver
You have to buy two of these. One to send, one to receive. My distances are fairly short, 10m and 20m. They work fine and have helpful LEDs. Signal quality is good.

Great device for transmitting TV signals over distances in your house
We've used HDMI over Ethernet for years now and I finally had to replace the original transmitter as the PSU failed on the original, 3 years after purchase. I figured it was almost as cheap to replace the whole thing rather than just the PSU so I'm keeping the old transmitter as a spare. I use device this to transmit our main cable TV signal from our lounge to the kitchen and master bedroom so we can watch TV anywhere in the house. As our remotes for our TiVo are bluetooth, we didn't have a need for a system that supports IR transmission. We're transmitting 720p 60Hz over Cat 5e cabling and the picture quality is great. The transmitter uses a broadcast system and is pretty heavy on traffic so we run all the AV on a separate Gb switch to our normal network traffic. This ensures that the networking in the house is not compromised by the transmitter flooding the network with packets.
