There are lots of books out there about writing and this is another one worth getting. Lindstorm delves into the psyche of the writer and asks the question why are you writing? It's a basic question but by going right to the core you will unearth many issues about your writing. Through exercises and tasks Lindstrom tries to "harness your creativity." As writers we need to "tap into our motivation for writing to create our own style"Writers, he says are always switched on and if you have an idea it will play on your mind in your sleep.He describes writing as a narcissistic activity and of course he is right but until we can see this ourselves and learn more about why we write we won't improve - on a whole range of levels from the initial idea, our target audience through to editing and marketing. This short guide will certainly get you thinking and move you forward in your writing.

Wow! Where do I start with this book?Well, it covers probably every avenue you should now about writing and publishing a book. As an established author I thought I would learn maybe a little bit, but the truth is quite different. Chapters 4 & 9 need re-reading as they are very important indeed.If you are a new author, then this book has everything you need to kick the process off and deals with the excuses you have. If you are an existing author, this book deals with the issues you have like procrastination and writers block... and many more.Enough said, this book is highly recommended.

Useful points to think about and others that must not be forgotten about.

Bit like listening to someone trying to hold court down at the pub. And then I got to the bit on Setting Up A Writer's Community and read 'I used to hate my writing group. Really. I would leave every week and secretly wish they'd all die of cancer'. Struck me as trying too hard and was unimaginative, crass and unnecessary. Can tell this is self-published. Really over-priced for what it is. Much better books out there to spend your money on.

As a writer myself I found this book full of good hints and tips for every kind of writer, from the unexperienced to the most experienced one.Good insights also for people who might want to unleash their own creativity in other ways. That's a book focused on writing but can be applied to any type of art and creative work.

A very compelling and informative read into the hows and whys of writing. Some very interesting chapters - especially the one on 'why you should love writers block' - and plenty that I could take away and work on. If you're considering a career in writing, this book is certainly a good place to start.
