There are several models that differ only in their appearance, sharing the same drive mechanism. The feet and drive mechanism come on one sheet of plastic, the body on another. The motor and drive system all work with the free app. The provided instructions are adequate, with the second and subsequent assemblies being easy once you have done the first one. There are several modes -- run, dance, race, and combat -- and some very limited programming is possible. I couldn't find any way to save programs or to combine program elements. I was more interested in the programming than in playing with them, so I was a bit disappointed. The robots work on our thick carpet. The more space you have, the better, as they can cover large distances quickly.I admit I play with them when I am alone in the house. It is fun. But my grandson, who is not yet five, wants to borrow my phone each time because he doesn't understand apps. He has a phone and a tablet, either of which can control a robot, but he has seen me control them from the app on my phone and thinks the phone is necessary for use with the robots. Some day he may catch on and we will be able to race and the robots fight each other.

My son received two of these toys for his birthday and he and his siblings had a blast playing with each other. My twelve year old loves robots and so this was the perfect toy for him to get a kick out of his love for building. The instructions were easy to understand and the robots were just complicated enough that he had a fun time assembling. My kids loved playing battling mode where the robots had lasers to fight each other with. They were also entertained by dance mode in which the robots were pre-set with three different types of dances. Also, robots are controlled with a free app which makes it accessible and easy to use on any device. Some things that were difficult with this product was how the sounds only played on the device (not the robot) and sometimes no music would play during dance mode which took out some of the fun. Another thing was that my kids found the programming not as enjoyable because the robots only had limited amount of moves they can be programmed with. Overall, the robots were pretty durable and light which made it easy for storage. Charging only takes from 1.5 hours to 2 hours and is charged with a basic USB charger. Five months later, they are still working as good as new and my kids still enjoy playing with them from time to time.

It’s a process to put this thing together, but an app walks you through step by step with some helpful picture and video guidance. Expect it to take 30-60 minutes to assemble, with your help. Also helpful to charge it ahead of time if you can because your child will want to play with it as soon as it’s assembled. Fun toy, app makes it easy to control. It was such a hit we bought two more for the cousins.

I got a couple of these for my kids and saw how much fun they had putting them together and playing with them. I ended up buying 5 more for my nieces and nephews. There are multiple styles to choose from and they are very durable so you dont have to worry abut them breaking on Christmas day right after they open them.

We bought several of these for my four nieces and nephews for Christmas: 10 yr old and 7 yr old put these together with little help. Just received a little video from them showing me how they have taught this critter how to “dance”.The fact they are still playing with it after 5 mos, speaks volumes,

We’ve gotten the blue beetle, scorpion, red beetle and mantis and the kids absolutely love these things! We had to help build most of them but they are very responsive and quick. They have neat settings to make them dance or battle.

Work great. Super fun and can do a variety of things. Even the adults in my family play with these. They hold up very well. Pretty easy to assemble, tho it takes about 15-20 mins.

This was a fun challenge for my 10 year old. Kept his hands and mind busy for about an hour. It looks complicated to build, but that's part of what kept him engaged. It was nice to see him off a mindless screen using his hands in a constructive way. At the end, when it turned on for the first time, he was so proud of himself.The bug itself is actually pretty cute, it runs like an insect. Never seen a toy like it. The dog was pretty interested in it, too lol.

We bought this for our 4 year old grandson... he loves it!! It’s very cool to watch 😀
