Craft Gun and 16 Discs

As a seasoned cake decorater I have wanted one of these for a long time and decided to treat myself. Reviews were favourable and had recommended it to a friend on that basis but was dissapointed with the quality of the product, after all it isn't cheap! Haven't had much succes so far...used petal paste and pastillage but results were awful. My friend however who is an ameteure has had great results with sugarpaste but after saying that she bought hers from a cake show for the same price. However experience has taught me not to give up and will update my review after more experimenting.........Well here is my update as promised. The key to good results is....Lard.lard and more lard! You need to mix your pastes with large quantities of lard until it actually squelches in your hands and Hey Presto!....SUCCESS! I've given four stars because i think the design could have been better with regards to the pumping handle.

This was quite easy to use and gave very good results. I did have a problem the first time that I used it. The red gripper on the handle kept sliding off and it all sort of fell apart when I opened it to refill it. It was almost impossible for me to get it all back together without some help - very fiddly.I contacted the seller for advice and quite honestly I could not have received better service! A new one or a refund was offered immediately. I accepted a replacement and this was promptly sent out to me. I have yet to use this new one but will rate once I do. If I was rating the seller this rating would have been 5 stars!

Hard to use at first but you get used to it make sure your sugarpaste/flowerpaste is soft

I purchased this as I was making a cake for Nan's birthday who loves knitting. I wished to have a tool to create the ' ball of wool' and had read the extruder gun would be best for this.The gun does take some getting used to and there is a bit of a knack to it, but once mastered I was really pleased with the results.I did find at times the icing wouldn't come out of the gun very well (despite using trex) but I am not sure if this was down to the way I was using it. I haven't used the gun for anything since, but am waiting for the opporunity to give it another go. On the whole a great product to create different and delicate results.

I bought this as I initially had a plunger style clay gun which was fab but sometimes I struggled to manipulate the icing through the finer disc shapes. After suffering rather bruised and sore hands I decided to look for a lever/pump action clay gun. This is the only one I found. I think it is a bit overpriced to be honest, but I still bought it and it works much easier than its plunger predecessor. I would have rated it higher if it had more variety in its disc shapes and scales. My original gun had considerably more options and this is restricted. It would benefit for a bigger range or an add-on pack of discs for professional users.

Good quality product.Difficult to master, trex makes it easier to work the sugar paste through. Good results once you've got it sussed.

My friend recommended this to me, she is fantastic at sugarcraft and I'm getting quite proficient myself. She warned me to use trex and get the icing really soft, having made numerous cakes I thought I had the icing soft enough but couldn't get the icing to come out with ease. It was really annoying me when I decided to microwave the fondant for around five seconds and try again. It flew out with ease and I realised that I hadn't had the icing soft enough like I was warned. Use a bit of trex, blast it for a few seconds in the microwave and it'll be easy!

Absolutely excellent. I was told that you need to add a fair bit of Trex to the sugar paste in order that the paste can be extracted easily from the gun. Also to add a little Trex inside the barrel to help. This worked perfectly and was so simple. Great attachments and so easy to fit. Not the cheapest on the market but definitely worth the extra. Delighted with the product and expect to get lots of use.
