Detailed and Concise!
This book is great! It has the most common orthopedic conditions that one will see in the clinic setting. Not only does it give a brief overview, but it discusses physical exam findings, differential diagnosis, non-operative and operative treatment. I think the thing that really sets this book apart it that it also concisely addresses patient education bullet points to hit, surgical positioning, and describes the surgical procedure(s) that would be performed if the condition is treated surgically. It basically comments on most things the patient will question during the appointment so you won't be left without an answer. There are great anatomical illustrations and tables. It also details how to do the most common procedures and injections with pictures as well as online videos. This book is a combination of Netter's Concise Orthopaedic Anatomy and Essential Orthopaedics. I am a preceptor for PA and medical students, and I recommend this as a practical orthopedic reference that the student will be able to use for the rest of their career. It could even fit into the pocket of a white coat! There are a handful of minor errors I have found throughout the book (like using a 25g needle for an aspiration) but again, these are minor and you'll recognize these if you have a little bit of ortho knowledge. The biggest area for improvement I see would be with the ICD-9 codes that are listed for each condition. These are great but ICD-10 is coming in October and the ICD-9 codes won't be applicable at that point. This could certainly be updated in a second edition, but seeing how complicated orthopedic ICD-10 coding is going to be it might be an overwhelming section.Overall, I am very impressed with the amount of practical and useful information that is contained in this small book. If you are going to get one orthopedic book, get this one!

Simple, concise, and loaded with information
Easy to read, lays out differential, signs and symptoms, and physical exams of common and not so common diseases. It also teaches what surgeries would be done, and post op care. It also teaches injection procedures.

Quick and accessible reference.
I was on the fence about buying another text book. However I recently started working in orthopedics and thought this might be helpful. In short, I love it. It fits inside your white coat, is well organized and concise. I especially like that it is comprehensive on common orthopedic ailments from presentation, surgical v conservative management and even recovery time. I would highly recommend for students and practicing PAs in orthopedics.

Great book!
I purchased this books a few months ago and its exactly what I was looking for. Love the lay out. It has the description of the condition, management /treatment recommendations including pictures and actual xray films. I highly recommend it especially to providers not so strong in ortho. It's good for a quick reference.

Helpful, but could be more detailed
I wish it went a little more in depth in terms of imaging findings and performing special tests.

needs better lay out
I do not know what it is about this book but I just did not enjoy it. I think it may be the way the material is laid out and explained, it is just not a great book for current PA students going through Ortho/Rheum didactic period.
