Scares flies and doesn't hurt people.
Saw a similar item at a party and was like... Why do I not have these? Found this model and happy with the price (Good value). The base is heavy enough to make full use of the gooseneck style stem/post and the unit doesn't tip or look like it is going to tip into the food. I'm thinking the reflective strips/blades help with the flies/bugs. And it worked well in an outdoor setting. I was worried that the strips/blades were semi-rigid and may pose a hazard, but it is flexible enough to not cause a scratch. Left it running for an all day party and the unit held up. So far used multiple times and still on the same set of batteries (Duracell). I recommend!

On smaller side so will only keep bugs away in direct area of fan. Does the job somewhat

One spun nicely, the other was at about 1/2 speed so wings were floppy and didn't work as well
