This book provides a detailed technical and social history of one of Britain's most important engineering companies and their most famous product. The technical and historic data is well written, accessible and, most importantly, factually correct. Every page is illustrated with a good set of pictures of the vehicles in question (either in service or in preservation - with a nice mix of both) to illustrate the points being covered; and further detail is provided where necessary in the legends accompanying the pictures. It is probably the best book of its type I have had the pleasure to read.

Not into fire engines etc myself, I bought this for a friend who is a fire engine driver and loves all things fire brigade.Loves the book and finds it very interesting.I can't comment anymore on the book as I didn't read it. As for my friend, he has no life and is a fire engine geek.
