This item may come with chips and cracks. Beware.
I should have been more hesitant to order this item, as several people had reported that when theirs arrived it had cracks in the pottery. I had already bought the cabbage to start my sauerkraut when the crock arrived or I would have immediately returned it, as it came with chips in the lid. My suggestion to the manufacturer is to place more attention on how the lid is packed for shipping. There was no paper or padding on the lid - it was just place on top of the crock in the shipping box.
