Receiver works fine connected directly to a usb extender, but not though the port adapter, even with the original cable which works directly to the mouse. The only possible point of failure is this adapter...

I am not sure how a USB to micro USB adapter can get messed up, but I tried twice and neither device worked. I have a known working one, so I know that everything else in the setup works fine. Gave two stars instead of one because at least the return process worked great without hassle.
