ALTRA Escalante 3 mens Sneaker

One shoe is as expected, the insole feels brand new and unused. The other shoes insole is completely flat which points to it being either used as a shop fitting model or an old shoe. Not as expected.

Ich habe lange nach Schuhen gesucht, die zwar breiter sind als normale Schuhe und eine ergonomische Form haben, dabei aber keine Barfußschuhe sind. Altra bietet genau das: Breite Schuhe, ergonomisch geformt, aber mit recht dicker Sohle.Mittlerweile habe ich mehrere Paare von der Marke und bin nach wie vor sehr zufrieden.Die Escalante 3 sehen in dunkelblau unauffällig aus, sind angenehm luftig und voll alltagstauglich. Trotz seiner durch die ergonomische Zehenbox ungewohnten Form fällt er optisch kaum auf.Ich gehe regelmäßig auch sehr lange Strecken >20km mit dem Schuh, das macht er gut mit und hält meine Füße blasen- und schmerzfrei.Einziger Nachteil für mich: Die Schuhe sind absolut nicht wasserdicht. Schon bei den ersten Regentropfen werden die Füße nass, es ist also ein reiner Schönwetterschuh. Das muss man wissen, stört dann aber nicht mehr wirklich, zumal es generell nicht so viele wasserdichte Sneaker gibt.Auch der Preis ist nicht ganz ohne wenn man mit den "klassischen" Marken wie Adidas, Puma und Co vergleicht.Aber wenn man mal einen Schuh von Altra getragen hat, versteht man auch warum - besonders dann, wenn man breitere Füße hat.Update 2026: Leider ist der Schuh nach nicht ganz zwei Jahren schon ziemlich am Ende. Die Sohle löst sich auf, und auch das Obermaterial hat schon ein Loch bekommen. Das ändert nichts an den positiven Qualitäten des Schuhs, aber ein Muster an Langlebigkeit ist er eben auch nicht.

The first thing I notice with Altras is the FootShape toe box. It actually gives my toes room to spread naturally without feeling sloppy or loose, which makes a huge difference on longer runs. A lot of other brands claim to have “wide” options, but they still feel cramped compared to Altra’s design.The arch support works really well for me. My feet feel secure and stable, but not forced into an unnatural shape. Combined with the balanced zero-drop platform, the shoes encourage a more natural stride and keep me from getting the aches I used to feel in my knees and hips after piling on miles.Durability is another strong point. I average about 20 miles per week, and my past Altras have held up far better than I expected. The cushioning doesn’t pack down quickly, and the uppers stay supportive even after months of wear. These already feel like they’ll give me the same reliable performance.Comfort-wise, I can put them on and head straight out for a run without a long break-in period. The lightweight build and responsive cushioning make every mile enjoyable, whether it’s a short recovery jog or a longer training run.Overall, Altra has become my go-to brand because they simply fit feet like mine the way running shoes should. If you’ve got wide feet, high arches, or just want a shoe that lets your foot move naturally, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Las utilizo para el día a día, por mi trabajo, me paso el día andando de un lugar a otro y es de lo más cómodo que he tenido nunca, he utilizado casi todas las marcas del mercado y sin duda, me quedo con esta para andar.En breve, compraré unas para correr y espero que sean tan cómodas como para andar.100% recomendables.

El modelo escalante de Altra es a priori el más "barefoot" de sus modelos. Suela sin apenas drop, flexible, con mucho espacio para los dedos... Y en estas escalante 3 se cumple otra vez casi todo:Las zapatillas son muy ligeras y la suela es bastante flexible, con poco drop y aunque tiene algo de amortiguación, tampoco resulta excesiva (aunque obviamente nada que ver con las zapatillas "barefoot").PERO hay un problema. La anchura de la puntera no es tan amplia como ha solido ser, (por ejemplo como era la Escalante 2) lo cual se traduce en algo menos de espacio para los dedos. Y el echo de que sean algo más estrechas, para la gente que precisamente buscamos esa forma de pie y esa anchura, es una faena y un gran error, ya que la marca ya dispone de muchos modelos más estrechos, y solo quedaban como anchas la escalante, la lone peak y la Olympus. Espero que la Escalante 4 vuelva a su anchura habitual, no le vería sentido a lo contrario.En cualquier caso, la zapatilla es muy cómoda y recomendable, pero ojo con la anchura.
